Heartburn Sources and Likely Solutions

Heartburn Symptoms and Causes. Acid Reflux, Burping and Gas, GERD

What Is Heartburn?

Despite its name, heartburn has nothing to do with the heart. Some of the symptoms, however, are similar to those of a heart attach or some other form of heart disease.

Heartburn is an irritation of the esophagus  — the tube that connects your throat and stomach.

As food reaches the end of the esophagus, it enters the stomach through a muscular valve called the lower esophageal sphincter. The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that digest food. … The pyloric sphincter is a muscular valve that opens to allow food to pass from the stomach to the small intestine.

stomach_72

It’s caused by stomach acid rising past a valve/sphincter and burning the tissue of the esophagus. This leads to a burning discomfort in your upper belly or below your breastbone.

Heartburn symptoms can begin because of a problem with a muscular valve called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). It’s located where the esophagus meets the stomach — below the rib cage and slightly left of center.

Normally, with the help of gravity, the lower esophageal sphincter  or LES keeps stomach acid where it should remain — in your stomach. When it’s working right, the LES opens to allow food into your stomach or to let you belch, then closes again. But if the LES is open for too long or doesn’t close tightly enough, stomach acid can seep up into the esophagus and cause a burning sensation.

If your LES doesn’t clamp shut properly there are often two things that contribute to the problem. One is overeating, which puts too much food in your stomach. Another is too much pressure on your stomach, often due to obesity, pregnancy, slouched seating,  or other digestive system diseases and dysfunctions.

A “Hiatal hernia” is also a possibility, which I’ll discuss as we go along.

Certain foods can be related, but there’s almost no good scientific evidence to prove these ideas. The common expectation is that certain foods may relax your LES or increase stomach acid, including:

  • Tomatoes
  • Citrus fruits
  • Garlic and onions
  • Chocolate
  • Coffee or caffeinated products
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Peppermint

Generally, the problem is NOT too much stomach acid. The problem is too little stomach acid and lack of proper production of digestive enzymes.

Meals containing a lot of animal fat and vegetable oils often lead to heartburn  as do certain medications.  Stress and a lack of sleep may  reduce the strength of the LES and may allow stomach acid to rise up through the LES and irritate the bottom of the esophagus causing heartburn.

If you’re pregnant, the hormone progesterone can relax your LES and lead to heartburn

Smoking lso relaxes the LES and thereby increases stomach acid reaching into the esophagus.

Heartburn Can Last  a few minutes. Sometimes it can last for several hours.

Heartburn happens about once a week for up to 87.5 Million Americans and is common in pregnant women. This tells me that 20 Americans in every 100 have serious digestive system issues and poor eating habits.

Occasional heartburn isn’t dangerous. But long-term heartburn, known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), can sometimes lead to serious problems, such as:

  • Long-term cough
  • Laryngitis
  • Inflammation or ulcers of the esophagus
  • Problems swallowing because of a narrow esophagus
  • Barrett’s esophagus, a condition that can make it more likely to develop esophageal cancer.

Simple Solutions May Reduce Heartburn

stomach-sections.jpgHeartburn can be caused by the foods you eat, your timing for eating, and how fast you eat. Here are other recommendations.

Looking at the diagram above we see the top of the stomach called the Fundus and the lower end of the Esophagus the “Cardia.” It’s possible due to accident, other trauma and slouched seating that part of the upper fundus has been pushed up into the cardia.

Pay attention to your seating. If you tend to slump in your dining chair and relaxing chairs, change your position so your spine is straighter, or change chairs or use pillows behind your back to support you better. The slumping posture many take reduces the normal length of the esophagus span, pushes the stomach up toward the hiatus, and may cause the Pyloric Sphincter to be forced through the hiatus forcing the sphincter to relax and open the stomach into the esophagus, thereby permitting acid reflux.

hiatal_hernia_hiatal_herniaA Non-surgical “hiatal hernia: If this has been a long term problem it may indicate a non-surgical correction of a very mild “hiatal hernia” which was a pushing of the If this becomes a very long term chronicity you can contact with your fingertips just below your breastbone and push down and hold that position while you breath for perhaps 30-seconds to a minute. This simple movement may help correct the problem. Avoid raw salad and foods that might scratch the area as food moves out of stomach, through the Pyloric Sphincter into the small intestine. Some Chiropractors know how to do this.

(You’ve read this earlier and seen the related picture above.)

Wear more comfortable clothing.  Replace skinny jeans and tight belt. You’ll be less likely to get heartburn if you wear comfortable clothing.

Lift the head of your bed so that your head and chest are higher than your feet. You can do this by placing 6-inch blocks under the bedposts at the head of the bed. Don’t use piles of pillows to achieve the same goal. You will put your body at an angle that can add pressure on your stomach and make your heartburn worse.

Change Exercise Timing. Wait at least 2 hours after a meal before exercising. If you work out any sooner, you may trigger heartburn.

  • Unwind before bed. Do something that relaxes you, whether it’s gentle stretching, meditation, prayer, or just taking a few deep breaths. Don’t drink alcoholic beverages. Alcohol can cause nighttime heartburn.
  • Don’t go to bed with a full stomach. Eat meals at least 2 hours to 3 hours before lying down. This will give food time to digest and allow acid levels to normalize. You will probably also find you’ll sleep better.
  • Stop the starters. Stay away from foods and beverages that trigger your heartburn symptoms. For example, onions, peppermint, chocolate, caffeinated drinks such as coffee, citrus fruits or juices, tomatoes, or high-fat foods, spicy sausage, annoying news shows and emotionally distressing people.
  • Shed some pounds. If you are overweight, losing weight will ease heartburn symptoms.
  • Stop smoking. Nicotine, one of the main ingredients in cigarette smoke, can weaken the muscle that controls the opening between the esophagus and stomach. That opens the door to heartburn.
  • Keep a diary or heartburn log. Note when heartburn hits and what seems to trigger it.

I’ve been all over the web looking. I learned this information in 1976 but today no one remembers, no one is teaching it. I’m the only one! I might save you a fortune in time, and money and prevent a lot of misery for you. I want to show you that I’m sincerely interested in helping you get well and stay well. The Inside Story About What’s Going On Inside Your Digestive Tract, Why It Hurts, and What To Do!

Are you suffering with allergies, burping, passing colon gas, pain and cramping in your digestive tract, feeling like you swallowed a bowling ball after eating, burning and itching of the anus, Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, sort of sickly and cold, exhausted almost all the time???

ALL of these symptoms are related to a digestive system in need of Natural Healing help and I’ll get you started with this article so read along with me!

I want to keep this to a reasonable reading level. I’m doing my best to keep explanations short, simple and direct.

By age 35 most of our population has discomfort of the digestive system. It comes in part from drinking too much coffee, drinking soft drinks that read like chemistry class, and bad food mixtures. You’ll get some quick advice about food mixing in a later article.

listo

Pharmaceutical TV Advertising attempts to teach us that the digestive system is separate from everything else so we take something for “too much stomach acid” and go on being miserable. The truth is everything in your body works together and your digestive distress affects

  • the small intestine,
  • and the large intestine,
  • and low back muscles
  • and can be a source of low back pain,
  • it could relate to headaches and allergies
  • it affects what you absorb into the blood stream.
  • It affects allergies you tolerate.
  • the scent of your breath and skin
  • and it affects the speed of your aging,
  • how comfortable and flexible you are,
  • and how well you sleep tonight.

Theoretically there’s much more. If you understand biochemistry and physiology well you might at least reasonably hypothesize that poisons leaking out of the digestive system into the blood-stream might be the base line cause of blood vessel plaquing of arteries (atherosclerosis) and high blood pressure, (which relates to) heart disease, erectile dysfunction and even kidney failure! I’ll dare to say it is a likely source of various types of cancer! ALL of those diseases from an unhealthy digestive system.

That is why I’m taking this rather bold step, telling complete strangers what they likely don’t want to hear! If I concentrated all of my nutrition teaching and product sales on better digestion I could help great masses of people reduce their health care costs, their personal misery, and have them feeling, looking, thinking, and acting far younger and healthier!

The other health-care practitioners don’t know this or they don’t tell you. When a pharmaceutical firm promotes “Tums” or something like it, they want to sell this cheap product and make a massive profit. And they do! So obviously they won’t tell you.

They want you to think about covering symptoms, not reaching the CAUSE and that’s a terribly immoral disservice.

When we get your digestive system working right everything else begins to follow back to normal health! Is that shocking? Do I really have your attention now?

The old adage among Naturopathic doctors is you can’t build until you clean. You can’t restore the body until you detoxify the body. Therefore, we must work here first and then everything else will improve, and you’ll get more benefit from the supplements you take.

When you chew food the saliva in your mouth begins the digestion process. The stomach is a bag of acid and it breaks down many proteins (from eggs, meat, milk, cheese and some parts of vegetable matter.) What is left is called “chyme.”

Chyme. Chyme is, a thick semifluid mass of partially digested food and digestive secretions that is formed in the stomach and intestine during digestion. In the stomach, digestive juices are formed by the gastric glands; these secretions include the enzyme pepsin, which breaks down proteins, and hydrochloric acid.

That chime is pushed into the small intestine and it is still very acidic. The acid must be neutralized and replaced with a product that is very BASIC/alkaline to allow the digestion of carbohydrates, which include fruits and vegetables, grains, potatoes, squash and most desserts.

I should tell you before I forget, leave dessert for 2 or 3 hours later. Putting sugar on top of protein creates more trouble than I can describe and leaves many feeling bloated and like they’re about to give birth to twins. So, have dessert way before dinner (unlikely) or much later.

If you want to reduce your weight, avoid desserts and sweet alcoholic beverages  entirely. I don’t drink any alcoholic beverages with good reasons and I recommend if you do, drink only once in a very great while or not at all.

Your liver (never mentioned by the Tums advertisers) produces Bile. The Bile goes into the gall bladder. The gall bladder injects bile into the small intestine to break fats and oils down. The Pancreas produces very strong alkalizers to neutralize that acid. What would happen if it did NOT alkalize those acids? I’ll tell you shortly.

The pancreas secretes enzymes that work in tandem with bile from the liver and gallbladder to help break down substances for proper digestion and absorption.

Enzymes produced by the pancreas for digestion include:

  • lipase to digest fats
  • amylase to digest carbohydrates
  • chymotrypsin and trypsin for digesting proteins

The pancreatic fluids are part of a larger digestive process that begins in the stomach:

Bile from the gallbladder and enzymes from the pancreas are released into the duodenum to help digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins so they can be absorbed by the digestive system.

The pancreas does a lot more….MUCH more….but we’ll focus upon digestion.

What IF the stomach does NOT produce enough stomach acid? What if you drink a lot of water or coffee with your meal? You dilute the acid. If the chyme going into the small intestine is not acidic enough, the pancreas is not sufficiently stimulated! It doesn’t inject enough pancreatic fluid. The chyme is not properly digested. Rather, it burns the small intestine liner as it is pushed along and burns the colon when it gets there. It might in some cases be remaining there for days burning and burning, damaging all of that digestive tract (also properly called “gut”) liner.

Drugs Mask Symptoms

When the gut liner is damaged repeatedly it develops microscopic holes. Poisons, dangerous bacteria, long chains of protein that were not completely digested, leak through the liner into the capillaries (tiny very thin blood vessels) Now these poisons are leaking into your blood stream. This is called “Leaky Gut Syndrome.” It’s a huge problem.

This can become a long story but I want to shorten it for you. The toxins leaking from the gut into the blood capillaries and the rest of the blood stream cause blood acidity to rise. This in turn reduces the normal absorption and assimilation of iodine.

The reduced iodine causes hypo (low) thyroidism (which means the amount of thyroid hormone — “thyroxin” — produced is insufficient. This in turn leads to a change in pituitary output and adrenaline production. Also probably there is a reduction in normal Testosterone production and indirectly growth hormone production.

The final symptomatic results are a patient feeling cold, sexless, tired, depressed, sort of constantly painful and sickly, also gaining fat and losing muscle mass! This is a patient showing all the parameters of a person much older. Why are men age 30 buying viagra? It’s because of THIS!

If these symptoms sounds like YOURS, then you need to continue to look through the articles I’ve written for you here about digestion, and then purchase digestive enzyme supplements, probiotics supplements, and at least a good multiple vitamin.

All of these are available at this website. They are the best quality products I can find and I offer them at the lowest price I can offer. I dare say again, probably no one else anywhere has ever taught you this. I hope you see that I am here to help you and your purchases here will permit me to continue my work to benefit you with excellent products at lower prices.  FOLLOW THIS LINK TO THE DIGESTIVE SUPPLEMENTS PAGES

The liver has many functions but one of them is to break down poisons and it’s being overwhelmed with that job all the time so long as you have leaky gut syndrome, and I’m sorry to tell you, probably more than 80% of Westerners and those living on “the diet of commerce” do. (Westerners being defined here as: Americans, English, Europeans, residents of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, some in The Philippines, some in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, some in India.) All of these, close to 2-Billion people, are suffering to some degree with this problem.

A lot of it can be corrected with a change in eating habits and intake of digestive enzymes, and fermented foods like yogurt, and pre and pro biotic drinks.

The yogurt and drinks are at your grocery store in the cooler, and the digestive enzymes I can provide to help you are the best I’ve seen and tested. I’ve tested several.

For most people eating a lot more green leafy vegetables steamed and cooked for the rest of your life (!) would be very helpful.

Some people want to say, “I don’t like vegetables.” I’m sorry. This is historic basic eating since the time of earliest humankind. If you don’t correct this mess you’ll burn and poison these tissues until you end up with truly grave illnesses including colon cancer, allergies that plague you, serious “arthritis” and “rheumatism” or “fibro myalgia” and many other maladies including I believe, higher cholesterol and high blood pressure, which leads to (in men) erectile dysfunction.

I recommend you do some reading of recipes (try food network) and learn to cook and love vegetables. It’s really just a matter of adapting to new flavors and learning a bit of better cooking.

Lately I put a mix of vegetables into a frying pan, added some coconut oil, (try olive oil too) a shake of salt, oregano, garlic, and curry. Mixed it well, covered it, and let it heat over a low light. I had a small prebaked chicken thigh and set that into the middle of these vegetables. It heated a bit more than 15-minutes. I never enjoyed vegetables so well. It was a very simple, very easy and quick dinner. Avoid rice, potatoes and wheat, do a bit more exercise, and you’ll find your weight reduces without much effort. I recommend you try and play with this basic group until you hit on a recipe you like, or look up some recipes, particularly from India and other Asian nations.

There are some who have so much trouble with their colon they should be doing their own colonic irrigations but we’re not discussing that here. Most people will do very well with digestive enzymes and more vegetable matter. The desert can be yogurt – preferable plain yogurt but that will take some adaptation too.

You can make it more complicated if you choose to, but I think it’s unnecessary. Over time I predict you may see your allergies clear away, fewer and fewer problems with your digestion, other issues will clear up including for a few people badly scented skin and breath, yellow eye whites, exhaustion, general aches and pains, odd diseases like “Lupus” (always a questionable diagnosis) “Fibro Myalgia” (a serious issue with little known of its real cause), and many other problems.

I’ll discuss more about digestion but these first two articles, if heeded, should help you make a big improvement in your overall health.

15 Amazing Benefits From Celery

THIS ARTICLE IS STILL BEING EDITED

Celery lowers cholesterol levels and arthritis pain, helps in weight loss, detoxifies the body, reduces high blood pressure, and promotes overall health in a vast number of ways. It is rich in vitamin C and hence is extremely beneficial for health.

What is Celery?

Celery is a plant of the Apiaceae family and is consumed as a vegetable. It can be found throughout the world and is an integral part of certain cuisines. Its origins most likely trace back to the Mediterranean and North African areas, since what is believed to be a rudimentary variety of species of celery was found in King Tut’s tomb, and a plant closely resembling it is referenced multiple times in Mediterranean myth and history. The plant is now cultivated globally and is a part of every cuisine from America and Ireland to Japan and Australia.

For culinary use, it is most commonly found in soups and salads, or as a garnish to certain dishes. Also, it is commonly eaten as a snack, since it is quite filling but not fattening.

Celery Nutrition Facts

According to USDA National Nutrient Database, celery contains minerals such as calciumsodiumcoppermagnesiumironzinc, and potassium[1] It contains fatty acids and vitamins including vitamin A, K, C, E, D, and the B vitamins (thiamin, riboflavinfolic acidvitamin B6, and vitamin B12). It also contains fiber.

Health Benefits of Celery

The health benefits of celery include the following:

Lowers Cholesterol Level

A research study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry suggests that eating celery every day may reduce artery-clogging cholesterol (called LDL or bad cholesterol). [2] The phthalides in this herb also stimulate the secretion of bile juices, which work to reduce cholesterol levels. Less cholesterol means less plaque on the artery walls and a general improvement in heart health. The fiber that is found in it also works to scrape the cholesterol out of the bloodstream and eliminate it from the body with regular bowel movements, further boosting cardiovascular health.

Reduces Blood Pressure

Celery contains phthalides, which are organic chemical compounds that can lower the level of stress hormones in your blood. Also, a 2009 study revealed that celery has hypolipidemic effects on your body that allow your blood vessels to expand, giving your blood more room to move, thereby reducing pressure. [3] It also contains potassium, which is a vasodilator and helps in reducing blood pressure. When blood pressure is reduced, it puts less stress on the entire cardiovascular system and reduces the chances of developing atherosclerosis or suffering from a heart attack or stroke.

Prevents Urinary Tract Infections

Celery seeds help in the elimination of uric acid because it is commonly used for its diuretic properties, meaning that it stimulates urination. [4] Therefore, it is good for people with bladder disorders, kidney problems, cystitis, and other similar conditions. The seeds also assist in preventing urinary tract infections in women.

A research study titled “Fruit and Vegetable Intake in Relation to Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms and Erectile Dysfunction Among Southern Chinese Elderly Men” claims that celery helps in reducing UTI symptoms in men as well. [5]

Lowers Arthritis Pain

Celery is great for people suffering from arthritis, rheumatism, and gout. It has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce swelling and pain around the joints. Its sticks also act as a diuretic, which helps remove uric acid crystals that build up around the body’s joints that can add to the pain and discomfort. It can also increase the regrowth of tissue in inflamed joints. [6]

Anticancer Properties

Celery contains phthalides, flavonoids like luteolin, and polyacetylenes. A study conducted at the Molecular Biology and Lung CancerProgram, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, USA suggests that luteolin has cancer-fighting properties. [7] Celery also contains coumarins that enhance the activity of certain white blood cells, which can effectively stave off cancer as well.

In another study led by Gao, LL et al. it was found that that celery seed extract exerts anti-proliferation and effect against gastric cancer and its use may induce apoptosis or programmed cell death. [8]

These antioxidant components seek out free radicals and neutralize them before they can cause conditions such as cancer.

Boosts Immune System

Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, celery greatly boosts the immune system and makes it more active and efficient. [9] Eating this vitamin C rich vegetable regularly can reduce your risk of catching a common cold, as well as protect you against a variety of other diseases.

Reduces Asthma Symptoms

Vitamin C present in celery prevents free radical damage and also has anti-inflammatory properties that lessen the severity of inflammatory conditions like asthma[10]

Improves Heart Health

The notable presence of vitamin C, fiber, and other organic chemicals in the roots of celery promotes cardiovascular health.

Regulates Fluid Balance

Celery is rich in both sodium and potassium, and both of these minerals help regulate the fluid balance in the body. [11]

Relieves Migraines

The presence of coumarins in celery can provide relief from migraines. The exact mechanism isn’t completely understood, but research points to a suppression of nitric oxide release in the brain, which can cause headaches and migraines.

Detoxifies the Body

It acts as an antioxidant, and in truth, all parts of celery, including the seeds, roots, and leaves can be used. Eating this vegetable regularly helps to avoid diseases of the kidney, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder.

Treats Rheumatism

Celery extracts, which contain 85% 3-n-butylphthalide (3nB), are effective in treating arthritis and muscular pains. [12]

Controls Diabetes

Celery leaves are also eaten for treating various diabetic conditions. This is because of their high fiber content, which has been shown to help manage diabetic symptoms. [13]

Prevents Cataracts

Dripping celery tea drops on eyelids is good for certain ophthalmological conditions and can improve your eye health, reduce your chances of developing cataracts, and protect you against macular degeneration.

Nerve Tonic

Celery contains high calcium and due to this, it is commonly used to calm the nerves. [14]

Weight Loss

Regular drinking of celery juice before meals may help reduce your weight. It is very low in calories and is also filling due to its high fiber content. Therefore, it can help reduce the tendency to overeat and help you keep the weight down without feeling hungry all the time!

Other Benefits

No Proof of Claimed Alzheimer’s Cure

There is no real evidence in support of the “ICT protocol,” which is described as a “super-nutrient cocktail.”

JOE SCHWARCZ, SPECIAL TO THE MONTREAL GAZETTE

Updated: July 28, 2017

Shampoos clean hair. That’s what they do. They do not cause Alzheimer’s disease.

Why even discuss this curious connection? Because I happened to come across a “breaking news” item online that began with the question: “Could the type of shampoo you use actually cause Alzheimer’s disease?” It went on to say “It sounds insane, and yet, if you’re using one of the 4 leading shampoo brands, that’s exactly what’s happening. Here’s the story.”

The problem was that to get this story I was directed to an audio presentation that I had to painfully sit through for more than a half hour. And in the end, there was never a mention of how your shampoo can cause Alzheimer’s! But there was plenty of talk about a miraculous way of reversing this devastating disease with something I had never heard of, called the “ICT protocol.”

I quickly discovered why I hadn’t heard of it. You see, it is “because the mainstream, liberal establishment” can’t let the cat out of the bag because this effective natural remedy would crimp the sales of Big Pharma’s useless drugs.

Luckily, I learned, there is still hope thanks to Glenn Rothfeld, “one of America’s most brilliant doctors who for more than 40 years has been on the forefront of the movement to cut through the government’s lies and deception.” It seems that Rothfeld’s years of research has revealed that Alzheimer’s is caused by the brain being starved of nutrients, and that the answer lies in the “ICT protocol,” which is described as a “super-nutrient cocktail.” However, to find out exactly what this cocktail is, we are directed to a free book with the enthralling title Cured. It claims to present “81 natural cures for cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and more.” Note, “cure,” not treatment. To receive the free book there is the little matter of signing up for Rothfeld’s Nutrition and Healing newsletter. And that is not free.

A search of PubMed and Medline, compilations of published medical literature, reveals no research by Rothfeld pertaining to Alzheimer’s disease. It seems his “research” is based on reading others’ publications and capitalizing on them with a good dose of hype thrown in. The only clue to be gained from the tiresome presentation is that the ICT protocol is some sort of combination of medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), glucose, B vitamins, choline, phosphorus and other nutrients. As is commonly the case for “cures” discovered by “maverick scientists or doctors who dare to swim against the tide,” there is a kernel of truth that is then blown out of proportion.

Here is what we know about Alzheimer’s disease. It is age related. Its incidence is increasing. It is characterized by deposits of a protein called amyloid between nerve cells, unusual protein tangles within nerve cells, and fewer connections, known as synapses, between nerve cells. The rate of the disease varies around the world. Drugs have a minimal effect on the progress of the disease, but the drugs that have some efficacy are thought to function either by increasing the levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, or blocking the effects of the excitatory neurotransmitter, glutamate. Alzheimer’s disease is not curable and its cause is unknown.

There is nothing new about trying a nutritional approach to prevent Alzheimer’s or to slow its progression. Since our bodies are composed of molecules derived from food, it is reasonable to suppose that specific nutrients play a role in determining our health status. In Alzheimer’s, there is a loss of synapses, the connections between nerve cells that form when protrusions develop in cell membranes and reach out towards neighbouring nerve cells. The theory is that providing nutrients needed for healthy cell membranes encourages the formation of new synapses to compensate for the experienced loss.

A typical example would be “Souvenaid,” a dietary supplement developed by Richard Wurtman of MIT. Wurtman is a very reputable researcher and the formulation of Souvenaid is based on legitimate science, but unfortunately there is a lack of evidence for its effectiveness. This supplement provides a range of nutrients that include omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), phospholipids, choline, uridine monophosphate, vitamins E, C, B12, B6, folic acid and selenium based on the theory that these are needed for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, a major constituent of synaptic membranes.

A number of studies have been carried out on Alzheimer’s patients with Souvenaid using standardized assessment scales. The results are disappointing. There is no evidence of decreasing the rate of cognitive decline or delaying the progression of the disease in any way, but one of the studies offered a slight glimmer of hope. In patients experiencing early Alzheimer’s disease, who are not yet taking medication, there was an improvement in verbal recall. That isn’t much to hang a hat on, but this is the type of “evidence” that Rothfeld has seized to create his ICT protocol. He throws in some medium chain triglycerides, likely from coconut oil, that have some anecdotal evidence for improving some Alzheimer’s symptoms, but there are no compelling studies to back up the claims. Basically, the contention that the ICT protocol, whatever it may be, can reverse Alzheimer’s disease is bogus.

But what about this business of shampoos causing Alzheimer’s? That headline seems to be only a way to draw people into listening about the spiel for the ICT protocol because, curiously, it is never addressed in the presentation. Others, though, have also made this bizarre claim and I think I have tracked down the origin. It seems to trace to a study that showed restricted growth of immature extracted rat nerve cells when exposed to methylisothiazolinone, a preservative found in some shampoos. There are no studies in live animals, and certainly none in humans. Alzheimer’s disease does involve damaged nerve cells, but this study is light years away from establishing a connection between the preservative and the disease. As far as that original “breaking news” item that says that a connection between shampoos and Alzheimer’s disease may sound insane goes, well, it may sound insane indeed, because it likely is.

Joe Schwarcz is director of McGill University’s Office for Science & Society (mcgill.ca/oss). He hosts The Dr. Joe Show on CJAD Radio 800 AM every Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m.

This was very well written. I’m a retired Chiropractic doctor and nutritionist. I am thankful Dr. Schwarcz went through the pain of having someone read to him that half hour sales letter (insulting all literate intelligentsia). He has done us a good service writing this article. There’s nothing wrong with eating right and taking a high quality supplement, but we can’t be CERTAIN such supplements will cure anything. Without a double blind test over a huge population we are left with the hope that supplements might help, but we cannot assume further than that.

I’m age 68. I take supplements. Did they prevent me from getting my mother’s dimentia? I don’t know. I hope so. That’s all I can tell you.

  • NOTE: It is illegal to claim a CURE for anything with nutritional supplements. We know many patients who say various illnesses and injuries healed and they recovered after using supplements for some length of time, [generally 1 to 6 months]. Those sort of stories are the most we’re allowed to tell anyone.

The Link Between Hypothyroidism

and Adrenal Fatigue

Is there a link between low thyroid production and low adrenal production? Some doctors say “yes.” Find out how they treat adrenal fatigue.

listo.jpg

Your adrenal glands sit atop your kidneys, where they do very important work. According to the Society for Endocrinology, the adrenal glands secrete hormones, or chemical messengers, into your bloodstream, via which they travel to various parts of your body.

Sometimes the adrenal glands lose their normal regulation, overproducing the stress hormone cortisol (Cushing’s disease) or not producing enough hormones (Addison’s disease or adrenal insufficiency). This is not my discovery! It’s been known for many years.

Some nontraditional physicians recognize another adrenal condition: adrenal fatigue. They say adrenal fatigue is caused when you’re under a great deal of stress for a long period of time, even perhaps years. As a result, your adrenal glands just cannot maintain  your body’s demands for hormones.

According to David Borenstein, MD, an integrative medicine physician in New York City, when you have adrenal fatigue, you feel run down. You have low energy, yet you can’t sleep. You might attempt to rely on stimulants like caffeine to get you through the day, and you may also have headaches and find yourself craving salt and sugar.

Many doctors that practice Naturopathy, Chiropractic, and other types of alternative or integrative medicine believe you can have mild or moderate cases of adrenal problems, It doesn’t have to be extreme to affect you.

Hypothyroidism and Adrenal Gland Troubles

The thyroid and adrenal glands actually work together. The thyroid is another gland responsible for producing hormones that keep your body running optimally. When the thyroid gland, which is in the lower front of your neck, isn’t functioning well, you can become tired, forgetful, and depressed — similar to adrenal symptoms. Other signs of hypothyroidism include feeling cold, having dry skin, and being plagued with constipation.

Because some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism are similar to adrenal fatigue, the two conditions can be confused. In addition, people with hypothyroidism often have weak adrenal glands. The two glands work together to supply essential hormones and deliver them where they need to be throughout the body. When your adrenal glands aren’t producing enough cortisol and you have a thyroid problem, it can make the situation much worse. Sometimes Chiropractic spinal realignment may help you. More often you need nutritional supplementation and digestive aids.

Controversy Around Adrenal Fatigue

Adrenal fatigue is a controversial topic. According to the Endocrine Society, adrenal fatigue is a myth promoted by health books and alternative medicine websites.

The only way to be absolutely sure is to test 20,000 people, cause half of them to have adrenal and thyroid insufficiency and be miserable for at least 5-years while drawing blood every week and running blood studies. Do you want to volunteer? I didn’t think so….

Without such testing we’ll never be absolutely sure. On the other hand, the pharmaceutical companies aren’t sure either. It’s very easy to change a blood picture with modern pharmaceutical product — but nearly impossible to regulate that picture. Taking drugs of any kind for this condition is a very bad idea.

There are no scientific facts to support the theory that long-term mental, emotional, or physical stress drains the adrenal glands and causes many common symptoms.

Adrenal fatigue isn’t an accepted diagnosis. It’s not something doctors are taught about in medical school.

However, if you take synthetic hormones for hypothyroidism and still experience fatigue and other symptoms, it’s important to determine the cause — which will require a long study and expensive testing. Extreme fatigue can be a symptom of many health conditions, such as depression, that are identifiable and treatable. Treatable yes! Curable? Perhaps not!

There’s no test for adrenal fatigue, according to the Endocrine Society, which means you are still running experiments on yourself at considerable expense. You can schedule an appointment with a doctor that practices alternative or integrative medicine if you’re interested in learning more about adrenal fatigue.

There are recommendations.  If you suspect adrenal fatigue, my first recommendation is to practice relaxation techniques like meditation and deep breathing. I also recommend cutting back on high-fructose corn syrup, gluten, and stimulants (such as caffeine) and to get good sleep. Sleep at least 8 hours per day. You can experiment going to sleep an hour after sunset and waking with the sunrise. For some of us, waking slowly with the sunrise is the only way to feel wide awake in the morning! Ancient people always slept as the night grew dark and awoke with the light filling the morning sky. Studies show they were more energetic and had clearer thinking.

If making these types of lifestyle changes don’t help improve your symptoms, you can take adrenal supplements to build your adrenal glands back up.

However, many endocrinologists warn that taking adrenal hormone supplements when you don’t need them is dangerous. “These hormone supplements could cause your adrenal glands to stop working,” Singer says. The glands could become unable to make the hormones you need when you’re under physical stress, he says, and you could be in danger of going into adrenal crisis, a life-threatening condition. Adrenal hormone supplements should be prescribed by a medical doctor after  testing to rule out other possible causes of your symptoms.

But there are other possible causes. You may simply lack sufficient B-Vitamins, and trace minerals.

  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine): Helps convert nutrients into energy (7).
  • Vitamin B2 (riboflavin): Necessary for energy production, cell function and fat metabolism (8).
  • Vitamin B3 (niacin): Drives the production of energy from food (910).
  • Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid): Necessary for fatty acid synthesis (11).
  • Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine): Helps your body release sugar from stored carbohydrates for energy and create red blood cells (12).
  • Vitamin B7 (biotin): Plays a role in the metabolism of fatty acids, amino acids and glucose (13).
  • Vitamin B9 (folate): Important for proper cell division (14).
  • Vitamin B12 (cobalamin): Necessary for red blood cell formation and proper nervous system and brain function (15).
  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid): Required for the creation of neurotransmitters and collagen, the main protein in your skin (16).

See Lesson 3 for more. (LINK)

A digestive enzyme with each meal is likely necessary, especially if you are past age 30, and often drink coffee, alcohol and eat sweets. It may be that you are eating good nutrition but not absorbing it because you lack sufficient digestive (stomach) enzymes.

Additionally you must do something to raise dietary fiber to be sure to flush poisons out of your colon completely. You can eat wheat bran, other types of grain brans, and a wide variety of partially cooked boiled vegetables at least 3 days each week.  LEARN MORE ABOUT FIBER HERE>>>

In many cases getting hormones balanced helps restore mental clarity and a healthy mood. Following my recommendations explained above AND taking the products listed below should be helpful and might effect what you might call a cure. Again, I’m not legally allow to claim cures, but this is probably our best hope.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  1. High Quality Multiple Vitamin-Mineral Supplement 1-3 / day as you find best for you. Always take this supplement WITH food.
  2. Digestive enzyme product with each meal
  3. Increase dietary fiber products we offer or increase with what you buy at the grocery store including bran and vegetables.
  4. Reduce coffee, sweets, alcohol. Daily take a pre-biotic and pro-biotic product like yogurt, or one of the many drinkable items in the grocery stores.
  5. Cheese is good but eat just a little two to three times each week. Too much will cause constipation.
  6. Drink 8 – 12 ounces of water before each meal daily.
  7. add a product specific for adrenals and thyroid.

Studies on the functional relationship between thyroid, adrenal and gonadal hormones.

Abstract

In order to clarify the functional relationship between thyroid, adrenal and gonadal hormones, hypothyroidism was induced by administration of thiuoracil in adult male and female rats, and the effects of hypothyroidism on the adrenal and the gonadal axes were investigated in the present study.

1. The functional relationship between thyroid and adrenal hormones: Adrenal weights and corticosterone were lowered, whereas the secretion of ACTH, corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH) and arginine vasopressin (AVP) increased in hypothyroid rats compared to euthyroid rats. These results indicate that hypothyroidism causes adrenal dysfunction directly and results in hypersecretion of CRH and AVP from the hypothalamus.

2. The functional relationship between thyroid and gonadal hormones: The pituitary response to LHRH was lowered, whereas the testicular response to hCG was not changed in hypothyroid rats. Hypothyroidism suppressed copulatory behavior in male rats. These results suggest that hypothyroidism probably causes dysfunction in gonadal axis at the hypothalamic-pituitary level in male rats.

In adult female rats, hypothyroidism inhibited the follicular development accompanied estradiol secretion, whereas plasma concentrations of progesterone and prolactin (PRL) increased in hypothyroid female rats. Hypothyroidism significantly increased the pituitary content of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) though it did not affect dopamine synthesis. These results suggest that hypothyroidism increases pituitary content of VIP and this increased level of VIP likely affects PRL secretion in a paracrine or autocrine manner. In female rats, inhibition of gonadal function in hypothyroid rats mediated by hyperprolactinemia in addition to hypersecretion of endogenous CRH.

The Endocrine (hormone) system is extremely powerful. Your brain and other organs are your own pharmaceutical factory and produce important chemicals night and day. Water-Soluble Vitamins

Most vitamins dissolve in water and are therefore known as water-soluble. They’re not easily stored in your body and get flushed out with urine when consumed in excess.

While each water-soluble vitamin has a unique role, their functions are related.

For example, most B vitamins act as coenzymes that help trigger important chemical reactions. A lot of these reactions are necessary for energy production.

The water-soluble vitamins — with some of their functions — are:

  • Vitamin B1 (thiamine):Helps convert nutrients into energy (7).
  • Vitamin B2 (riboflavin):Necessary for energy production, cell function and fat metabolism (8).
  • Vitamin B3 (niacin):Drives the production of energy from food (910).
  • Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid):Necessary for fatty acid synthesis (11).
  • Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine):Helps your body release sugar from stored carbohydrates for energy and create red blood cells (12).
  • Vitamin B7 (biotin):Plays a role in the metabolism of fatty acids, amino acids and glucose (13).
  • Vitamin B9 (folate):Important for proper cell division (14).
  • Vitamin B12 (cobalamin):Necessary for red blood cell formation and proper nervous system and brain function (15).
  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid):Required for the creation of neurotransmitters and collagen, the main protein in your skin (16).

As you can see, water-soluble vitamins play an important role in producing energy but also have several other functions.

Since these vitamins are not stored in your body, it’s important to get enough of them from food.

Sources and Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) or Adequate Intakes (AIs) of water-soluble vitamins are (7810111213141516):

Nutrient Sources RDA or AI (adults > 19 years)
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) Whole grains, meat, fish 1.1–1.2 mg
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) Organ meats, eggs, milk 1.1–1.3 mg
Vitamin B3 (niacin) Meat, salmon, leafy greens, beans 14–16 mg
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) Organ meats, mushrooms, tuna, avocado 5 mg
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) Fish, milk, carrots, potatoes 1.3 mg
Vitamin B7 (biotin) Eggs, almonds, spinach, sweet potatoes 30 mcg
Vitamin B9 (folate) Beef, liver, black-eyed peas, spinach, asparagus 400 mg
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) Clams, fish, meat 2.4 mcg
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) Citrus fruits, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts 75–90 mg

Fat-Soluble Vitamins

Fat-soluble vitamins do not dissolve in water.

They’re best absorbed when consumed alongside a source of fat. After consumption, fat-soluble vitamins are stored in your liver and fatty tissues for future use.

The names and functions of fat-soluble vitamins are:

  • Vitamin A: Necessary for proper vision and organ function (17).
  • Vitamin D:Promotes proper immune function and assists in calcium absorption and bone growth (18).
  • Vitamin E:Assists immune function and acts as an antioxidant that protects cells from damage (19).
  • Vitamin K:Required for blood clotting and proper bone development (20).

Sources and recommended intakes of fat-soluble vitamins are (17181920):

Nutrient Sources RDA or AI (adults > 19 years)
Vitamin A Retinol (liver, dairy, fish), carotenoids (sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach) 700–900 mcg
Vitamin D Sunlight, fish oil, milk 600–800 IU
Vitamin E Sunflower seeds, wheat germ, almonds 15 mg
Vitamin K Leafy greens, soybeans, pumpkin 90–120 mcg

Macrominerals

Macrominerals are needed in larger amounts than trace minerals in order to perform their specific roles in your body.

The macrominerals and some of their functions are:

  • Calcium: Necessary for proper structure and function of bones and teeth. Assists in muscle function and blood vessel contraction (21).
  • Phosphorus:Part of bone and cell membrane structure (22).
  • Magnesium:Assists with over 300 enzyme reactions, including regulation of blood pressure (23).
  • Sodium:Electrolyte that aids fluid balance and maintenance of blood pressure (24).
  • Chloride:Often found in combination with sodium. Helps maintain fluid balance and is used to make digestive juices (25).
  • Potassium:Electrolyte that maintains fluid status in cells and helps with nerve transmission and muscle function (26).
  • Sulfur:Part of every living tissue and contained in the amino acids methionine and cysteine (27).

Sources and recommended intakes of the macrominerals are (21222324252627):

Chloride Seaweed, salt, celery 1,800–2,300 mg
Potassium Lentils, acorn squash, bananas 4,700 mg
Sulfur Garlic, onions, Brussels sprouts, eggs, mineral water None established

Trace Minerals

Trace minerals are needed in smaller amounts than macrominerals but still enable important functions in your body.

The trace minerals and some of their functions are:

  • Iron: Helps provide oxygen to muscles and assists in the creation of certain hormones (28).
  • Manganese:Assists in carbohydrate, amino acid and cholesterol metabolism (29).
  • Copper:Required for connective tissue formation, as well as normal brain and nervous system function (30).

Lesson 4: Stay Younger and Healthier with Fat Soluble Micro-nutrients

Health Benefits of Micronutrients

All micronutrients are extremely important for the proper functioning of your body.

Consuming an adequate amount of the different vitamins and minerals is key to optimal health and may even help fight disease.

This is because micronutrients are part of nearly every process in your body. Moreover, certain vitamins and minerals can act as antioxidants.

Antioxidants may protect against cell damage that has been associated with certain diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer’s and heart disease (353637).

For example, research has linked an adequate dietary intake of vitamins A and C with a lower risk of some types of cancer (45).

Getting enough of some vitamins may also help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. A review of seven studies found that adequate dietary intake of vitamins E, C and A is associated with a 24%, 17% and 12% reduced risk of developing Alzheimer’s, respectively (638).

Certain minerals may also play a role in preventing and fighting disease.

Research has linked low blood levels of selenium to a higher risk of heart disease. A review of observational studies found that the risk of heart disease decreased by 24% when blood concentrations of selenium increased by 50% (39).

Additionally, a review of 22 studies noticed that adequate calcium intake decreases the risk of death from heart disease and all other causes (40).

These studies suggest that consuming enough of all micronutrients — especially those with antioxidant properties — provides ample health benefits.

However, it’s unclear whether consuming more than the recommended amounts of certain micronutrients — either from foods or supplements — offers additional benefits (4142).

SUMMARY Micronutrients are part of nearly every process in your body. Some even act as antioxidants. Due to their important role in health, they may protect against diseases.

Fat-Soluble Vitamins

SUMMARY Micronutrients can be divided into four groups — water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, macrominerals and trace minerals. The functions, food sources and recommended intakes of each vitamin and mineral vary.

Micronutrient Deficiencies and Toxicities

Micronutrients are needed in specific amounts to perform their unique functions in your body.

Getting too much or too little of a vitamin or mineral can lead to negative side effects.

Deficiencies

Most healthy adults can get an adequate amount of micronutrients from a balanced diet, but there are some common nutrient deficiencies that affect certain populations.

These include:

  • Vitamin D: Approximately 77% of Americans are deficient in vitamin D, mostly due to lack of sun exposure (43).
  • Vitamin B12:Vegans and vegetarians may develop vitamin B12 deficiency from refraining from animal products. Elderly individuals are also at risk due to decreased absorption with age (4445).
  • Vitamin A:The diets of women and children in developing countries often lack adequate vitamin A (46).
  • Iron:Deficiency of this mineral is common among preschool children, menstruating women and vegans (4748).
  • Calcium:Close to 22% and 10% of men and women over 50, respectively, don’t get enough calcium (49).

The signs, symptoms and long-term effects of these deficiencies depend on each nutrient but can be detrimental to the proper functioning of your body and optimal health.

Toxicities

Micronutrient toxicities are less common than deficiencies.

They are most likely to occur with large doses of the fat-soluble animal source vitamins A, D, E and K since these nutrients can be stored in your liver and fatty tissues. They cannot be excreted from your body like water-soluble vitamins.  (The products I sell provide these in small dosages and mostly from plant sources just to be keep us safe. Yes, of course I take them too! )

A micronutrient toxicity usually develops from supplementing with excess amounts — rarely from food sources. Signs and symptoms of toxicity vary depending on the nutrient.

It’s important to note that excessive consumption of certain nutrients can still be dangerous even if it does not lead to overt toxicity symptoms.

One study examined over 18,000 people with a high risk of lung cancer due to past smoking or asbestos exposure. The intervention group received two types of vitamin A — 30 mg of beta-carotene and 25,000 IU of retinyl palmitate a day (50).

The trial was halted ahead of schedule when the intervention group showed 28% more cases of lung cancer and a 17% greater incidence of death over 11 years compared to the control group (50).

Micronutrient Supplements

The safest and most effective way to get adequate vitamin and mineral intake appears to be from food sources (5152).

More research is needed to fully understand the long-term effects of toxicities and supplements.

However, people at risk of specific nutrient deficiencies may benefit from taking supplements under the supervision of a doctor.

If you’re interested in taking micronutrient supplements, look for products certified by a third party. Unless otherwise directed by a healthcare provider, be sure to avoid products that contain “super” or “mega” doses of any nutrient.

SUMMARY  Since your body requires micronutrients in specific amounts, deficiencies and surpluses of any one nutrient may lead to negative issues. If you’re at risk of a specific deficiency, talk to your doctor before starting supplements.

The Summary For You To Know

The term micronutrients refers to vitamins and minerals, which can be divided into macrominerals, trace minerals and water- and fat-soluble vitamins.

Vitamins are needed for energy production, immune function, blood clotting and other functions while minerals benefit growth, bone health, fluid balance and other processes.

To get an adequate amount of micronutrients, aim for a balanced diet containing a variety of foods.

This You Should Remember

The term micronutrients refers to vitamins and minerals, which can be divided into macrominerals, trace minerals and water- and fat-soluble vitamins.

Vitamins are needed for energy production, immune function, blood clotting and other functions while minerals benefit growth, bone health, fluid balance and other processes, and they MUST be balanced properly to gain the best benefit from them.

To get an adequate amount of micronutrients, aim for a balanced diet containing a wide variety of foods.

You have just read and at least know where to see this information again. You presently have MORE information about nutrition and self-healing using nutritional supplements than 98% of all the Medical Doctors in the USA! Those fine people never study natural healing, have no training or experience in using supplements, and always, Yes always make their living selling drugs. And… drugs often are not effective and many times have side effects, even deadly side effects!

No less than the famous Mayo Clinic admitted (and still does) that half of their diagnoses are wrong. They admit they are treating half their patients with the wrong medication for the wrong “disease” or condition.

I’m sure you and most of us have been every so carefully indoctrinated since childhood that the medical doctor is a genius and what he offers is the only way to stay alive and healthy. It’s not true. Often, VERY often, we get healthier, resist getting sick, and stay healthier and younger many years after our friends, because we follow good rules of natural healing.

In my own life experience, I began doing exercise and reading about nutrition at age 10. I’ve been following a reasonably healthy lifestyle ever since. Now I’m age 68 and I am still slim, physically fit, all systems are working, I have no diseases and no chronic aches or pains. This is NOT luck and it is NOT because I have “good genes.” My mother was short and fat and my father was painfully thin. I have an athletic physique and I am healthy because I put some gentle daily effort into staying healthy. Luck has little to do with it. I admit, God has blessed me because I follow His Ways.

The Multiple Vitamin-Mineral Formulation I am offering has it all. Everything I’ve covered s and listed in these lesson is in these formulations and balanced so you absorb them well and put them to optimal use. Further, they are the very best quality products money can buy. If there is anything better, I don’t don’t know about it.

Everything that CAN be naturally obtained from food is in there with no unnecessary or unhealthy ingredients (which are sometimes found in lower priced products.)

Everything I’ve discussed is in there in the right proportions to be a great benefit to your health. …

and you can have it without riding to a shopping mall…

The product is already in a shipping “fulfillment warehouse” waiting to be delivered to your door via UPS or one of the other similar shippers.

And right now I’m offering it at an introductory price which is just slightly more than it costs to deliver it to your door, BECAUSE, this is the beginning of an enlarging business. You can expect to see more products added regularly. You’ll also get the teaching from a licensed doctor. This is a service No One Else in the nutrition industry offers – At No Charge.

Others want to sell you an expensive book or a subscription to a news letter. Most tell stories but give no real solid information about physiology, (how your body works,) and why you need more of some vitamins than of others!

We have begun. You have a foundation here. As I cover various subjects I’ll touch upon physiology to help you understand further what you need and WHY.

I teach what you need and more, and it’s all given to you like a gift, in friendship. I hope after you learn so much you’ll be happy to do business with me so that I can earn enough to continue to teach you!

Please place your order and expect to hear from me with some small helpful note about once every 2nd week. Watch for a follow note from the website “Follow” connection you made. It comes to your email inbox under the name AIM Nutrition.

I am at your service for your improved health,

Lesson 3: What Micro-nutrients Are and How They Keep Us Healthy

Micro-nutrients:

  • Three Easy To Understand Types, Functions — What they do, or help your body do,
  • Benefits They Provide
  • and More Good News About Staying Young and Healthy Longer!

This IS worth reading ….

because your future better health and reduced health care expense depends upon what you know about keeping yourself healthy.

Micronutrients are one of the major groups of nutrients your body needs. They include vitamins and minerals.

I don’t expect you to memorize this, just get a feeling for it. In later articles you’ll remember what I said and there will be references back to this basic information to help you.

Vitamins are necessary for energy production, immune function, blood clotting, maintenance of every sort of tissue from eyes and teeth to nerves hiding in your feet. A great many activities cannot occur without vitamins. They make the catalysts for various chemical reactions necessary for life! Many diseases can be prevented with sufficient vitamin and mineral intake. It’s illegal for me to tell you what diseases, but believe me when I say I’m being truthful. Much of the developed world’s people look and are tired, sexless, dull of mind, feeling sickly all the time, lacking good eyesight, good hearing and good sleep because of their lack of vitamins.

Minerals play an important role in growth, bone health, fluid balance and hundreds of other processes. After a long study about minerals I began to wonder if they are MORE important than vitamins!

In this article and those that follow I will provide a detailed overview of micro-nutrients, their functions and implications of excess consumption or deficiency.

It IS worth your reading because your future better health and reduced health care expense depends upon what you know about keeping yourself healthy. You don’t have to memorize any of this, just see it once so you know there are real benefits to taking Micro Nutrient Supplements and of course keep this series of 10-lessons so you can refer to it any time.

These pages will also remain on my website so you can find them and reread them there any time, and even download them as a PDF to keep on your computer.

I hope it’s obvious to you, I’m doing everything I can to help educate you so you’ll have a Much Better Quality Of Life, feel energetic, happy, healthy, and perhaps have improvements in eye sight, hearing, and even some of the pleasures most of us knew in our youth but lost along the rocky road of life.

Types and Functions of Micronutrients

Vitamins and minerals can be divided into four categories: water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, macro-minerals and trace minerals.

Regardless of type, vitamins and minerals are absorbed in similar ways in your body and interact in many processes.

These are the water-soluble vitamins — with some of their functions:

Very briefly then, these vitamins keep your energy up, your weight down, and help maintain strong comfortable joints, reduce inflammation and pain, perhaps prevent macular degeneration and other characteristics of aging eyes, extend your life span, help you maintain your strong sexual interest and abilities.

A person who has no sexual interest obviously has other health issues.  I hope you’re beginning to realize, our health-care advertising has been separating everything. Leg pain is over there, headache pain needs a medicine over here and somehow they want you to believe none of it is related. IN FACT ALL OF IT IS RELATED!!! Everything works together! When I teach massage for back care I demonstrate over and over again, everything relates to everything else!

It’s the same with our nutrition. You can’t build a strong youthful body with poor nutrition and you cannot maintain a healthy, flexible, comfortable older body while ignoring good nutrition. A lack of vitamins B and C are more likely the cause of your friends admitting they are tired and achy than any other source!

As you can see, water-soluble vitamins play an important role in producing energy but also have several other functions.

Since these vitamins are not stored in your body, it’s important to get enough of them from food.

Sources and Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) or Adequate Intakes (AIs) of water-soluble vitamins are (7) discussed in further reading. [These RDA’s are just enough to keep you alive and are NOT sufficient for optimal health.]

Nutrient Sources RDA or AI (adults > 19 years)
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) Whole grains, meat, fish 1.1–1.2 mg
Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) Organ meats, eggs, milk 1.1–1.3 mg
Vitamin B3 (niacin) Meat, salmon, leafy greens, beans 14–16 mg
Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) Organ meats, mushrooms, tuna, avocado 5 mg
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) Fish, milk, carrots, potatoes 1.3 mg
Vitamin B7 (biotin) Eggs, almonds, spinach, sweet potatoes 30 mcg
Vitamin B9 (folate) Beef, liver, black-eyed peas, spinach, asparagus 400 mg
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) Clams, fish, meat 2.4 mcg
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) Citrus fruits, bell peppers, Brussels sprouts 75–90 mg

All of these are water soluble. You need to intake them from food or supplements daily! You’ll need a WIDE variety of fresh vegetables (brightly colored vegetables) daily to balance these one against the other and make them useful. Obviously, many people don’t have that benefit, and that’s why they’re often sick!

Nutritional Supplementation is the answer. To the quip, “You should get all your vitamins from food;” My answer is, “Yes you SHOULD, but you don’t. Unless you raise your own vegetables in your own volcanic soil garden, you won’t ever get all that you need for optimum health.

Imagine we are together walking through a forest and there are live animals in the trees, flying around, deer, moose, foxes, we see and hear all sorts of creatures. We leave and six months later we return.

We have returned after something terrible happened, and the trees are standing but all the animal life is gone. That is what has happened to our farm soil. We “bombed” it with all sorts of chemistry. The bacteria and worms, and other insects in it are gone. It cannot produce what it did when it was “wild.”

America’s factory farms long ago pulled all the good nutrients out of the soil, then covered everything with pesticides. Now the once alive, black, moving soil is brown, dry, dead dust! Every older farmer knows this.

Your body is a solute body. It needs water and water soluble vitamins. Without them, you always feel painful, tired, weak, sickly, cold, sometimes shaky, scared, and perhaps having panic attacks, heart palpitations, painful joints, eye trouble, other organ dysfunctions….

Feeding your body more pharmaceutical products is like adding to water to clean it up. That’s the wrong approach entirely! A study of the early days of medicine indicates from the beginning they intended to cover symptoms, not find the cause of a disease and cure it! It’s little different now.  In most cases, if your body gets healthy, it did so despite the medicines thrown into it.

In Lesson 4 I’ll discuss Fat Soluble Vitamins and bit more. We’re almost done with the basic foundation of knowledge about how YOU can be healthier and younger longer.

As you read other articles I can refer to vitamin charts and you’ll get a better understand in short articles how my recommendation can help you perhaps ameliorate one or several illnesses.

ameliorate  …   means to (improve/reduce/ cause to get better) and perhaps lead to what you might call a cure.   Synonyms for ameliorate

verb make, become better

Please continue learning. You won’t find another nutrition teacher helping you this way and all of my effort is intended to help you be healthier (and reduce your health-care expenses) for life!

Lesson 2

Lesson 2 Part A

Hello and thanks sincerely for joining me again,

I’m picking up where we left off yesterday, a few sentences of review and then we’ll move onI may, in just a moment, amaze you in about  a digestive problem and solution you’ve never heard about before.

I was saying last time:  I remember: A 62-year-old lady lying on my adjusting table face up, and I’m massaging her neck and talking about her condition and she says, “Well, my blood pressure has come down to nearly normal now and I don’t have headaches no more. So I stopped taking several prescriptions.”

I ask, “Your doctor knows about this?”

“Oh yeah” she says, “and it’s saving me over $850/month.”

“Well” I answered, “I guess that proves this care more than returns its cost. I won’t charge you that monthly amount in an entire year!”

I can’t make big claims and guarantees. It’s against the law to do that. I can only tell you what patients have told me, and as we go through this together occasionally I will make a brief mention of their experiences.

I’m carefully organized about this. We need to feed you properly and be sure you absorb it so I’ll be covering digestive issues and might amaze you with some information you never connected in your thinking before. Can I give you a quickey example?

A nurse was visiting me in the clinic. We had about 6-visits together to get her back pain cleared up and have her moving better again. She told me “Lately, my husband’s skin smells terrible. I tell him to wash more and he does but then 10-minutes later he smells again. The doctors in the hospital have no idea what I should do.”

I immediately knew the answer and I’ll explain it in more detail in future. Essentially it came down to lack of digestive enzymes. The man was past age 68, as I remember. He was not breaking some proteins down properly in his stomach before the food moved on into the small intestine. Because of this his skin smelled like a sewer.

I suggested a digestive enzyme product, and within one or two days the problem was gone.

The nurse was amazed and pleased. I was too. Of course her husband was no longer in hiding.

Naturally then I’m going to explain and offer a best quality digestive aid to you very soon. Forget about the anti-acids – that’s exactly the wrong approach!

I suggested a digestive enzyme product to a patient long ago. This woman said to me, “My doctor said I have too much stomach acid.” I didn’t want to start a fight so I kept quiet. I wanted to ask her how he knew this, did he test to be sure?

Of course he didn’t! The local general practitioner doesn’t have any such tests. I had suggested a digestive enzyme and said it would help her produce more stomach acid because that IS what she needed. She was already convinced she should take Tums or something like that. So away she went. I had given her my opinion and I wasn’t about to fight with her.

This is the way it is with most of the world. There are very, very few people as smart as you are, willing to read, learn and think. Very few!

Do you see the connection to what I was saying? The medical doctors had no idea what to do about that older man because they are not trained about nutrition or natural healing. They are trained to sell pharmaceuticals.

Pharmaceutical companies support the medical colleges and the colleges teach what the pharmaceutical companies tell them to teach. It’s been this way since the very early 1900’s when medical colleges were in financial trouble and the Rockefeller Foundation moved in and made them an offer they couldn’t refuse!

Some of those colleges were desperate about money so the Rockefeller people made them a deal. “You teach only about using our products in clinical practice and we in turn will finance the new laboratories you need, more classrooms, more equipment, expanded campus and more buildings, anything you need.”

Probably if they said “no” the foundation might have replaced the top college management with someone else, even bought up the entire college and taken over entirely. They had to say “yes” to the offer.

Was it a deal with the Devil? You tell me.

Anyway, that’s what happened.

Today’s young medical doctors don’t know anything about natural healing. They make their living doing treatments, surgery, and selling drugs or prescribing drugs and getting a “commission” from the drug companies for the prescription. They make a fortune running endless tests.

Oh gosh. I have so many stories like this about corruption. About people seeking cancer treatment outside the US because they cannot get what they need in the US. It’s terrible. Natural healing is often the best answer, less expensive,

and honestly,

cutting out pieces of your body is not the right answer! The body will heal itself if you help it instead of wage war on it!!!

Do you remember the old civil war era movie “Gone With The Wind”? At one point a horse pulling a buggy collapses and the horse’s owner gets off the buggy and we see her whipping the animal while it is lying on the ground. Horrendous!

Well, it’s the same feeling I get seeing people go into chemo therapy, radiation therapy and surgery. I know they can try a different approach. I have never met anyone who got better using Chemo Therapy. They got poisoned and looked thin and older and terrible, lost their hair and their dreams. Awful.

Of course there’s a better answer! Everyone in the nutrition business knows that! That’s why the Big Pharmaceutical firms and the Food and Drug Administration are constantly trying to stop us from helping people like yourself.

When I was between 30 and 40 years old I knew two women who were mis-“treated” for cancer that way. Our community lost them both to ChemoTherapy. I still pray for their salvation. I’ll never forget. I live most of my time outside the US where I can write what I want and no one from the FDA will come in and threaten me. I’ll tell you the truth no matter how much they hate me for it.

And I want you to know NOW – this letter is not being written for me by someone at an ad agency. I am writing it and telling you my truths as I learned them in my practice in my real life. This is not some fantasy from a professional advertising writer. It’s really me, Dr. Stephen Newdell, telling you what they never can know because they are not doctors, never learned any physiology, and never cared for a patient.

That’s why they write long winded stories. Then they want someone to read it to you because half the country wants it that way, I guess. I prefer to read.

They write stories but they have no answers as to how the body works or why a supplement is good for you. They try to hide the ingredient labels. They never offer any information about what each ingredient does to help you.

My website right here covers all of that. And you’ll notice I control the site and write the pages. I do not have computer code hidden everywhere, stuff flickering and advertising flashing at you from all sides. That just distracts you and slows the page transmission down. It is not helpful.

I’m a very sincere, direct sort of thinker. you’ll get these articles and a direct connection to a purchase page. You will decide to buy what you want and when you want it. I don’t know how to coerce anyone to buy and I wouldn’t do it anyway!

They show you a timer. “This offer closes in the next 5-minutes buy right now…” I just think that’s a dirty way to do business. I won’t insult you or anyone else with those methods.

The connection to discover more about the best multiple vitamin know is HERE. It’s also in the PRODUCTS listing at the top of the web site home page. Discover more for yourself about it any time you like.

If you would like to have that information right now, I’ll send it to you as a PDF (Adobe style PDF file) from HERE. Just go to the top right, download and save it. Read it when you find it convenient.

I’ll have my computer send you this information offer again — to your email. You won’t lose track of it. I want you to know, I’ve scoured the world for the best products, natural healthy products made from food. I’ve found the best labs in the US and Europe, and honest prices. We certainly should stay in contact.

I’ll write again to you. Let’s call this “Lesson number 2” and you’ll automatically get Lesson number three very soon. You can also find it right here very quickly.

Thank you for your interest and attention.

Kind regards,

Dr. Stephen Newdell

Lesson 1…Nutrition Lessons

Lesson 1 (reminders of these 4 lessons go out via autoresponder every 3rd day )

Four short lessons to be healthier for life AND reduce your health care expenses.

All four lessons are available from the HOME page and can be downloaded as a PDF file.

Hello and Thanks for Joining Me.

I’m here to help you make sense of what you need in the non-drug world to be healthy naturally. If you’ll follow these short lessons you’ll learn more than 99% of the US public about how to stay youthful and healthy, AND reduce your health care expenses!

From this beginning I will tell you, I am NOT going to make you suffer through a very long video explanation with someone reading to you. I think the big promise and very long story about how to get rid of an ailment is someone else’s style, not mine and it honestly annoys me. I’ll take you right to the information you need as quickly as I can and give you recommendations for products that can help you. All of them are natural. All of them are best quality and often recommended by doctors.

I’m Dr. Stephen Newdell, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, Nutritionist, and before all of that I earned a BS in Human Physiology. If you want to see my degrees look HERE. I tell the truth and I’m willing to show proof of it with these documents. Any model can wear a clinic jacket and get a photo. I’m the only one I know showing proof of my education and years of clinic service to my community.

If you were to meet me, you would say, “He’s a quiet, conservative, interesting, well mannered guy, not in any way strange.  UNFORTUANTELY, I’m going to talk about subjects that will surprise you, and even touch on the edge of things said that are a bit uncomfortable. I don’t mean to seem weird. I’m just trying to sweep away years of lies given to you by drug sellers, and get you to understand the real source/cause of your problems and how you can bet better — and better!

So please, even if I speak about subjects a little left of center, please stay with me.

In this series I’ll send you several Lessons to teach and remind you. You’ll get two lessons each week. I’m not going to play “Mr. Super Salesman” with you. I think that’s the wrong way to behave.

I want to teach and help you learn in your own pace and at no charge. I know you’ll make your own best decisions when you feel ready.

If you want to read more lessons at once there’s a list of them HERE

We keep prices down to help you. I know there are many advertisements selling a long winded story and then they hit you with a sky high price. It is dishonest and not justifiable!

Buying on line and taking delivery at your home reduces your stress and expenses and it reduces ours too. We can all benefit this way. There is simply no justifiable reason to charge you a pirate’s ransom for these products. You avoid burning gas and having tension driving to a mall and worrying about traffic, weather, crazy people out there…. It all happens right here from your chair and someone from a delivery company will bring the products to your door. In the end it costs you less and you stress less!

Please do not assume if the price is high it must be better. Quite often that is not true. Rather, it’s just the writing of a pushy salesman who thinks everyone will pay 10 times the reasonable price if he offers a multiple pages sales pitch.

I’m not going to do that. My business is honest and God-Fearing. I want to help you be healthier. As you get healthier you’ll spend less for medical care and reduce your annual health care expenses dramatically. That should please you! I believe when you realize that I’m honest with you, you will continue to be a regular customer. That helps me stay available to help you further.

My Qualifications: I’ll reduce a lot of chatter to a sentence or two here. I grew up near New York City, graduated near the top of my class at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1977. I gave good honest care in the college clinic (I had a busy practice there) and I’ve been busy in my own clinic ever since until my retirement from practice in year 2015. Many of my patients have been able to quit or reduce medication so much they say my help reduced their expenses nearly a thousand dollars monthly! Can you imagine that?

I am more than the average Chiropractor. I’m also a long term student of nutrition and nutritional counseling, and I’m a massage therapist. I also hold specialty certifications for study in orthopedics (bone disease) and central nervous system physiology.

I retired from practice at age 65 in year 2015, and moved abroad to the South East Asian tropics (where I write what I want and no one from the FDA can trouble me!) But no matter about money. Everything you’ll pay for with me goes through American banks in the usual way and is as safe as modern technology can provide.

In earlier years I got many patients well after they utterly failed in other Chiropractic and Medical offices. I got people out of wheel chairs. I saved 4-baby’s lives. My work got rid of chronic back pain, chronic headaches, high blood pressure in a few cases, and other odd anomalies. Thank God I was given the ability to help others. I don’t mean to brag. I just praise God for His kindness and generosity. We are less than dust beneath His feet, but look what He has done for us!

I hope I haven’t offended you (or other readers) by mentioning my faith. I will tell you it is a faith founded in excellent science. If you’re interested you can visit another website I write for: www.HeavensWay2022.com  It’s all no charge articles of general information (including physics and biology proving theology) and it’s intended for a family audience. I think you might find it helpful and interesting. I hope you’ll follow that site too. It will help and encourage you.

Do you know?  Nearly half the US population thinks God and the Bible are old unfounded nonsense, yet some of the best scientists in the world say The Universe and all life MUST have been created by something we conveniently call God? Whether you count yourself among “The Faithful” or not, I think you’ll find my other work interesting and helpful. It’s HERE

So…now I write for my work and interest and I’m grateful to God I can help you and I’m thankful that you’re reading my works.

Before I go today I wanted to pass on a short story.

I remember: A 62-year-old lady lying on my adjusting table face up, and I’m massaging her neck and talking about her condition and she says, “Well, my blood pressure has come down to nearly normal now and I don’t have headaches no more. I had them for 20-years and now they’re gone! So I stopped taking several prescriptions.”

I ask, “Your doctor knows about this?”

“Oh yeah” she says, “and it’s saving me over $850/month.”

“Well” I answer, “I guess that proves this care more than returns its cost. I won’t charge you that monthly amount in an entire year!”

I can’t make big claims and guarantees. It’s against the law to do that. I can only tell you what patients have told me, and as we go through this together occasionally I will make a brief mention of their experiences.

In these little articles I want to talk about the benefits of a properly made all natural multiple vitamin and mineral supplement. This is the foundation of better health for you, so I’m asking you to please focus on this and pay good attention to it. My catalogue of products is growing and you’ll see more carefully considered products being offered to help you.

I think I’ve said more than enough for today.  You can see the rest with the next email or GO HERE to see all of it. That will introduce you to Lesson 2. In Lesson 2 I’ll cover some information about how to become a bit more energetic and younger and immediately begin to feel better.

Thanks for getting acquainted.

Stephen Newdell

Food Combining

It can be made very complicated but following this chart will save you a lot of trouble. My #1 piece of advice is to avoid mixing fruit and grain and that includes fruit jelly/jam on bread.

Every few days have a little plain yogurt and a pre and pro biotic drink.

We’re moving into some slightly less comfortable discussions. I’m afraid you need to know, even though the discussion is not as pleasant as a perfectly ironed white table cloth.

Bloody stools (poop) from baby or young child. – Seek Medical Care Immediately

Amebiasis is an intestinal illness that’s typically transmitted when someone eats or drinks something that’s contaminated with a microscopic parasite called Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica). The parasite is an amoeba, a single-celled organism.

There’s a lot to read here, but I’ll cut to the chase. If your baby has blood in his/her stools take the child to a Medical Doctor immediately. Excuses like, “It’s just the heat” are nonsense! The cause might be the parasite E. histolytica often present in the tropics on warm moist earth, near where people or animals relieve themselves. The bacteria might have gotten on to the child’s hands and then she put her hand to her mouth our hand into water she would drink. Adults might have put their dirty hands on their hands which touched fruit or vegetables while harvesting.

After several days this bacteria can enter and begin to destroy organs and eventually the disease can kill the child. Antibiotics will be prescribed by your medical doctor. You might use your smart phone, shoot a photo to send to the MD to show what you’ve seen, you could bring a small sample of the bloody poop in a clean small jar or plastic sandwich bag. The doctor may send the sample for a lab test, but generally they’ll simply prescribe an Antibiotic immediately. Don’t play games with this. Call the doctor’s office, set a visit time, go to the MD’s office At Soon As Possible.

Amebiasis

About Amebiasis

Amebiasis is an intestinal illness that’s typically transmitted when someone eats or drinks something that’s contaminated with a microscopic parasite called Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica). The parasite is an amoeba, a single-celled organism. That’s how the illness got its name — amebiasis.

In many cases, the parasite lives in a person’s large intestine without causing any symptoms. But sometimes, it invades the lining of the large intestine, causing bloody diarrhea, stomach pains, cramping, nausea, loss of appetite, or fever. In rare cases, it can spread into other organs such as the liver, lungs, and brain.

Amebiasis typically occurs in areas where living conditions are crowded and where there is a lack of adequate sanitation. The illness is very prevalent in parts of the developing world, including Africa, Latin America, India, and Southeast Asia. It is rare in the United States, occurring mostly in immigrants, recent travelers to high-risk countries, and people with HIV/AIDS.

Signs and Symptoms

Most kids who get amebiasis have minimal or no symptoms. When children do become ill, they experience abdominal pain that begins gradually, along with frequent loose or watery bowel movements, cramps, nausea, and a loss of appetite. In some cases they develop a fever and, possibly, bloody stools.

For some people, symptoms of amebiasis can begin within days to weeks of swallowing food or water contaminated by amoebas. For other people, symptoms of amebiasis either take months to appear or never appear at all. In that case, as with many diseases, some other illness is cause for the MD to prescribe antibiotics. That drug kills many undiagnosed bacteria including the amoebas and perhaps sexually transmitted disease bacteria and whatever else is resident in the patient’s body.

Contagiousness

Amebiasis is contagious. Wherever living conditions are unsanitary and hygiene is poor, the chances are higher that the infection will pass from person to person.

Someone carrying amoebas in his or her intestines can pass the infection to others through the stool. When infected stool material contaminates food or water supplies, amebiasis can spread quickly to many people at once. This is especially true in developing countries where drinking water may be contaminated. As an example: I was in a home where the family water supply was held in a big 5-gallon bucket. The children would come in after playing in the dirt outdoors, touching a basketball, dogs, pigs, chicken, other kids, and dip a cup into that water. The water then got whatever germs were on their hands. The family never knew – never thought about it. The entire family probably to this day is carrying amoebas in their colon.

Amebiasis can also be spread between people through inadequate hand washing, by using the same objects, and by sexual contact.

Prevention

There is no vaccine to prevent amebiasis.

Because amoebas may contaminate food and water, you can help prevent the illness by being cautious about what you eat and drink, especially in developing countries, where a good rule regarding food is to cook it, boil it, peel it, or forget it. Your biggest enemy is uncooked food like salads, shell fish, (some eat them raw) ice in food or in a drink.

Treatment

If your doctor suspects that your child has amebiasis, you may be asked to collect stool samples. After diagnosis, treatment will usually require consultation with appropriate experts such as those at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or other infectious disease specialists. (In the tropics most MD’s don’t go that far. They just write a prescription for an antibiotic.)

When to Call the Doctor

Call your doctor if your child has signs or symptoms of amebiasis, including:

  • diarrhea with blood or mucus
  • abdominal pain
  • fever
  • distended abdomen
  • pain or tenderness in the area of the liver (below the ribs on the right side)

This is especially important if you have recently traveled to a part of the world where amebiasis is common. Your child should also be examined if he or she has persistent diarrhea without any other symptoms.

Amebiasis is common in tropical countries with underdeveloped sanitation. It’s most common in the Indian subcontinent, parts of Central and South America, and parts of Africa. It’s relatively rare in the United States.

People with the greatest risk for amebiasis include:

  • people who have traveled to tropical locations where there’s poor sanitation
  • immigrants from tropical countries with poor sanitary conditions
  • people who live in institutions with poor sanitary conditions, such as prisons
  • men who have sex with other men
  • people with compromised immune systemsand other health conditions

What causes amebiasis?

  1. histolyticais a single-celled protozoan that usually enters the human body when a person ingests cysts through food or water. It can also enter the body through direct contact with fecal matter.

The cysts are a relatively inactive form of the parasite that can live for several months in the soil or environment where they were deposited in feces. The microscopic cysts are present in soil, fertilizer, or water that’s been contaminated with infected feces. Food handlers may transmit the cysts while preparing or handling food. Transmission is also possible during anal sex, oral-anal sex, and colonic irrigation.

When cysts enter the body, they lodge in the digestive tract. They then release an invasive, active form of the parasite called a trophozite. The parasites reproduce in the digestive tract and migrate to the large intestine. There, they can burrow into the intestinal wall or the colon. This causes bloody diarrheacolitis, and tissue destruction. The infected person can then spread the disease by releasing new cysts into the environment through infected feces.

What are the symptoms of amebiasis?

When symptoms occur, they tend to appear 1 to 4 weeks after ingestion of the cysts. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), only about 10 to 20 percent of people who have amebiasis become ill from it. Symptoms at this stage tend to be mild and include loose stools and stomach cramping.

Once the trophozites have breached the intestinal walls, they can enter the bloodstream and travel to various internal organs. They can end up in your liver, heart, lungs, brain, or other organs. If trophozites invade an internal organ, they can potentially cause:

  • abscesses
  • infections
  • severe illness
  • death

If the parasite invades the lining of your intestine, it can cause amebic dysentery. Amebic dysentery is a more dangerous form of amebiasis with frequent watery and bloody stools and severe stomach cramping.

The liver is a frequent destination for the parasite. Symptoms of amebic liver disease include fever and tenderness in the upper-right part of your abdomen.

How is amebiasis diagnosed?

A doctor may suspect amebiasis after asking about your recent health and travel history. Your doctor may test you for the presence of E. histolytica. You may have to give stool samples for several days to screen for the presence of cysts. Your doctor may order lab tests to check liver function to help determine if the ameba has damaged your liver.

When the parasites spread outside the intestine, they may no longer show up in stool. So your doctor may order an ultrasound or CT scan to check for lesions on your liver. If lesions appear, your doctor may need to perform a needle aspiration to see if the liver has any abscesses. An abscess in the liver is a serious consequence of amebiasis.

Finally, a colonoscopy may be necessary to check for the presence of the parasite in your large intestine (colon).

What treatments are available for amebiasis?

Treatment for uncomplicated cases of amebiasis generally consists of a 10-day course of metronidazole (Flagyl) that you take as a capsule. Your doctor may also prescribe medication to control nausea if you need it.

If the parasite is present in your intestinal tissues, the treatment must address not only the organism but also any damage to your infected organs. Surgery may be necessary if the colon or peritoneal tissues have perforations.

What is the outlook for people with amebiasis?

Amebiasis generally responds well to treatment and should clear up in about 2 weeks. If you have a more serious case where the parasite appears in your internal tissues or organs, your outlook is still good as long as you get appropriate medical treatment. If amebiasis is left untreated, however, it can be deadly.

How can I prevent amebiasis?

Proper sanitation is the key to avoiding amebiasis. As a general rule, thoroughly wash hands with soap and water after using the bathroom and before handling food.

If you’re traveling to places where the infection is common, follow this regimen when preparing and eating food:

  • Thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables before eating.
  • Avoid eating fruits or vegetables unless you wash and peel them yourself.
  • Stick to bottled water and soft drinks.
  • If you must drink water, boil it or treat it with iodine.
  • Avoid ice cubes or fountain drinks.
  • Avoid milk, cheese, or other unpasteurized dairy products.
  • Avoid food sold by street vendors.

PARASITE SYMPTOMS

The symptoms of parasites vary widely, and as they often overlap with symptoms of Lyme and other chronic illnesses, they are challenging to pinpoint.

One of the biggest telltale signs of parasites is difficulty sleeping. This may mean difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep, restless sleep, grinding of teeth at night, Restless Leg Syndrome, or any combination of these, as well as being hungry at night. You may also wake up feeling exhausted even after a long sleep. All of these things occur because parasites are most active at night.

Other possible symptoms may include any combination of the following:

  • Brain fog; forgetfulness
  • Skin problems; itching; hives; eczema; rashes
  • Intense food cravings; frequent, insatiable hunger; changes in appetite
  • Decreased immune system function; susceptibility to illness
  • Anxiety; depression; irritability, confusion, chronic anger or antagonism
  • Joint pain; muscle pain
  • Anemia; B6 deficiency; zinc deficiency
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Adrenal fatigue
  • Bloating; constipation; diarrhea; abdominal pain or cramps; SIBO (see below)
  • Heart pain; chest pain; difficulty breathing
  • Numbness; tingling
  • Trouble with sight; spots in front of eyes

THE TROUBLE WITH PARASITE TESTING

The fact that parasites so frequently go undetected is the result of a number of different factors. First, there’s the fact symptoms are often nonspecific, and sometimes even nonexistent. Most doctors in the US are not thinking about parasites, even though they are common here. And even when doctors are thinking about the possibility of parasites, testing is extremely flawed, and often results in false negatives.

There are a number of issues with parasite testing. To begin with, tests for parasites are usually stool tests where the lab is looking for parasites within a stool sample. This method may seem logical at first glance, but the trouble is that parasites don’t necessarily come out every time you have a bowel movement. You may end up paying for an expensive test and sending in a stool sample, only to receive a false negative back because your stool wasn’t collected at the time that your parasites were most active (something that would be pretty tough for you to control!).

Furthermore, parasites can actually dissolve themselves when they die, meaning that even if they do come out in your stool sample, they may no longer be there by the time the lab technician gets to it. And finally, because of the many different kinds of parasites out there, lab technicians may not always know exactly what to be looking for.

Ultimately, whether or not you want to pursue testing is up to you, and there are some testing options out there that are better than others. But although a positive parasite test may help to inform treatment, a negative parasite test does not at all rule out the possibility of parasites.

The most effective and proactive approach is to assume that parasites are present based on symptoms, and focus your time, energy, and resources on cleansing and eliminating them.

PARASITE CLEANSING & HEALING

Removing parasites from the body is a crucial step in healing from chronic Lyme and many other kinds of chronic illness, but it’s equally important to make sure that this step is taken carefully. Focusing on killing parasites too quickly without first addressing the function and draining capabilities of the liver, colon, gallbladder, and kidneys can result in severe die-off reactions and symptoms that may actually cause you to feel worse.

Our one-on-one coaching and at-home Lyme disease programs offer in-depth guidance for healing every step of the way, including drainage prior to parasite cleansing, and detailed protocols for cleansing.

When cleansing parasites, it’s important to make a few changes to the diet, including avoiding foods that can feed parasites such as sugars, grains, and alcohol. There are a number of helpful herbs, supplements, and other treatments that can be used to flush out parasites, bind onto ammonia, metals, and toxins that they produce, and cleanse the whole body safely.

Signs and Symptoms of SIBO

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a health condition in which an excessive amount of gut bacteria are present in the small intestine. Once thought to be a rare condition, emerging research suggests that it is under-diagnosed by physicians.

The most likely misdiagnosis is that of irritable bowel syndrome(IBS), when in fact the real problem is SIBO. Another scenario is to attribute the symptoms stemming from SIBO to a primary illness that contributes to the development or maintenance of SIBO when SIBO is in actuality present alongside that illness.

Differentiating SIBO from IBS and other health conditions is challenging. SIBO shares its symptoms with other disorders and does not present with its own unique symptoms. Although estimates vary widely across research studies, SIBO has been found to be present in a surprisingly high number of people who were diagnosed with IBS. Surprisingly high prevalence rates of SIBO have also been found in elderly people, people who have celiac disease whose symptoms are not eliminated through a gluten-free diet, and people who have cirrhosis of the liver.

Because SIBO can contribute to symptoms ranging from the mild (abdominal bloating) to the severe (nutritional deficiencies), it is important that its presence is identified. In this overview, you will learn about the primary signs and symptoms of SIBO. If you suspect that SIBO may be behind your own symptoms, you should bring your concerns to the attention of your doctor for proper evaluation and treatment.

Symptoms

The symptoms of SIBO can differ from one person to the next. And as you can see, many of its symptoms are very similar (if not identical) to that of IBS:

  • Abdominal bloating
  • Abdominal distension (gets worse as the day goes on)
  • Abdominal pain
  • Chronic diarrhea, sometimes with urgency
  • Excessive intestinal gas
  • Nausea
  • Soiling accidents

To further muddy the water when it comes to SIBO there is the fact that its signs and symptoms may vary according to the specific types of bacteria present in the small intestine.

How Would You Know If It Is Not IBS?

Although the symptoms of the two disorders are so similar, there are some differences. One possible sign that the problem might be SIBO as opposed to IBS is if your bloating starts within 90 minutes after you eat something. The thinking here is that it takes approximately 90 minutes for food to reach the large intestine. So if bloating is occurring prior to the 90-minute mark, it might indicate that bacteria within the small intestine are responsible.

Fatigue, weakness, and weight loss are symptoms of more severe cases of SIBO that are not typically experienced by people who have IBS.

Severe SIBO and Nutritional Deficiencies

In more rarer and more severe cases, SIBO can contribute to problems with the absorption of vitamins and other nutrients resulting in nutritional deficiencies. Malabsorption may occur when SIBO results in microscopic damage to the villi lining the walls of the small intestine. Nutritional deficiencies can lead to significant health problems, so it is important that SIBO, if present, be identified and treated. If you have experienced unexplained weight loss alongside intestinal symptoms, it is essential that you bring your symptoms to your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

Here are some of the nutritional deficiencies that have been associated with the presence of SIBO.

Carbohydrate malabsorption: There are several possible ways in which SIBO can cause a malabsorption of carbohydrates. The first is that SIBO may cause a premature digestion of carbohydrates by the bacteria present in the small intestine. SIBO is also thought to result in a dysfunction in the enzymes responsible for breaking down carbohydrates for absorption into the bloodstream due to damage in the villi. And lastly, people who have SIBO may also begin to restrict their carbohydrate intake in an effort to avoid bloating, diarrhea, and other symptoms.

Protein malabsorption: The damage to the villi from SIBO may result in a decreased ability for the small intestine to absorb protein into the body.

Fat malabsorption: Fat malabsorption resulting from SIBO is thought to occur because the bacteria present in the small intestine break down bile acids which are responsible for the breakdown and absorption of fat. These broken down bile acids are then thought to be absorbed in the middle part of the small intestine (the jejunum) rather than the last part of the small intestine (the ileum) which is where fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamins A, D, E, and K, would normally be absorbed.

Fat malabsorption is thus particularly problematic as it can lead to deficiencies of these vitamins. Luckily, research has shown that only in very rare cases does severe illness develop from these deficiencies.

Fat malabsorption often has a definitive visible sign in that it can cause floating stools. Stools may also look oily and may be particularly foul-smelling.

Vitamin B-12 deficiency: The presence of SIBO raises one’s risk for a B-12 deficiency because the bacteria in the small intestine utilize the vitamin themselves, and thus the vitamin is not available to your body for absorption. Such a deficiency can result in peripheral neuropathy. It can also result in megaloblastic anemia (enlarged red blood cells) or normocytic anemia (low red blood cell count).

Iron deficiency: SIBO can also cause anemia due to an iron deficiency. It is theorized that iron is not absorbed properly due to damage was done by the bacteria present to the villi within the small intestine.

Vitamin D deficiency: The presence of SIBO has been associated with a higher risk for osteoporosis. This association is thought to be the result of SIBO-caused vitamin D deficiency.

Other vitamin deficiencies: There have been case reports of people who experience vitamin E deficiency syndromes and a single case report of a person who experienced night blindness from a deficiency in vitamin A attribute to the presence of SIBO.

Health Conditions That Increase Your Risk

Emerging research has identified a wide variety of illnesses that may be present alongside SIBO. This co-existing state may be because the illness itself sets up conditions for SIBO to develop. If you have any of the following and your symptoms have been worsening in spite of medical treatment, you may want to talk to your doctor about testing you for SIBO:

What to Do If You Suspect SIBO

If the information you have read here today has made you think that perhaps SIBO is playing a role in your symptoms, you should schedule an appointment to speak to your doctor about the issue.

SIBO is diagnosed through the use of a breath test or through a biopsy taken in the course of an endoscopy. Although the breath test is less invasive, there are some concerns about its validity in terms of accurately identifying the presence or absence of SIBO.

If SIBO is found to be present, your doctor will work with you on a treatment plan. If there is an underlying illness that has set up the conditions for SIBO to develop, addressing that illness will be the primary focus. For some cases, a trial of specific antibiotics aimed at eradicating bacteria within the small intestine may be warranted. Your doctor may also assess for and recommend interventions for any existing vitamin deficiencies.

Parasites are more common than many of us realize, and they are not always easily recognized because of the wide range of symptoms they can cause, and flaws in testing and diagnosis.

Worms have been brought back to life from eggs frozen for over 30,000 years. There are parasites on playgrounds that are causing cognitive impairment, parasites on beach sand and in food. Parasites may be on money you handle. Lately there are reports of parasites in pork that are causing seizures throughout the US.  We must take this threat seriously! The person who says, “I don’t have parasites” is likely infested! 80% of American are. Therefore I ask you, what evidence do you have that YOU are not infested or infected too?

Don’t expect every medical doctor to diagnose this. Many of them are NOT trained to consider this and have no experience with it! They’ll come up with some other answer and prescribe antibiotics but won’t go to the cause of the problem because they are NOT trained to think backward to the cause of problems! They are trained to cover symptoms and feed you drugs until you die! The proof is in the numbers. The US spends more for health care than the budget of many countries! But — all of that medicine, surgery and many other procedures are NOT getting patients well. In many cases they bilk the patient of every dime he has and leaves him sick and dying!

Parasite symptoms and Lyme symptoms often overlap, and without addressing parasites, we cannot fully heal from Lyme. Because of a number of challenges with testing, it’s best to assume that parasites are present, and to concentrate on cleansing and eliminating them. it is best to do Daily full colonic irrigations with warm water for at least 30-days, to clean everything out of the colon, liver and gallbladder.

I’ll teach about Colonic Irrigation on another page.

We’re moving into another of my slightly less comfortable discussions. I’m afraid you need to know, even though the discussion is not as pleasant as a perfectly ironed white table cloth.

What’s “A Colonic”?

and

“Is it right for Me?

Dr. Stephen Newdell

Well I’m so glad you’re asking, though I must tell you most reading this will never actually do it, because they’re squeamish about what comes out of “their bottom” and don’t want to think about it, which is rather foolish actually, considering your life began with your Mom cleaning you regularly….

Before I tell you HOW to do it you should understand WHY you would have need to do it. I really want to recommend that you read this article right now

The Inside Story About

What’s Going On Inside Your Digestive Tract

Why It Hurts, What To Do….and then return to this one.

Get a general picture of what’s going on in your digestive tract. The rest of what I say will make more sense for you.

colorectal-smallWe’re viewing a diagram here of the colon as it becomes the rectum and terminates at the anus. The small intestine of course dumps into the colon. The stomach pushes partly digested food into the small intestine. You will please take note the descending colon is on the man’s LEFT side before it becomes the rectum and anus and then everything moves out from there.

You can see the haustra, which are the small pouches causing sac formations. This give the colon its segmented appearance. These sacs or haustra fill with chyme and then approximately every 25 minutes contract and push the chyme along to the next segment. This movement is called peristalsis.

After years living on the diet of commerce, which is nothing like the diet of primitive people, the colon tends to move too slowly, it may be coated with chyme that got stuck there and did not clear away. This leads to a lot of bacteria setting up housekeeping there, and they produce more poisons/toxins and acids and that stuff continues to irritate the colon liner, burning it, literally burning microscopic holes through it. Then the germs and toxins begin to leak through the holes into capillaries and thus into the blood stream. The liver will detoxify it to the best of its ability, but it can’t detoxify all of those poisons. Some of them do full body (we would call it “systemic”) tissue damage. Herein lies the true cause of reduced lifespan, faster aging, and causes of cancer.

I remember reading a cancer doctor (oncologist) who said, “We know the cause of cancer. It’s “free radicals.” Yes, true enough and general irritation. If the colon lining is constantly irritated by acids and poisons eventually that irritation might become colon cancer, which is extremely common in the US and England.

I won’t go into cellular chemistry here, but those “free radicals” are coming with the toxins and they’re making people age faster and get fatter too soon. We have hormone imbalances, mental imbalances, a general feeling of ill health, tiredness, sickness, a bit of depression or lack of energy perhaps, feeling sort of sexless, maybe experiencing a constant feeling of influenza with specific location aching muscles, — a true “rheumatism” like “Fibro Myalgia” for example.

Meantime the colon is producing gas because undigested material is being “worked on” by bacteria which are producing gasses. Some patients have a scent on their skin and most doctors haven’t any idea what the cause might be. It’s all related to what I’ve been teaching in previous articles which finally ends up as this mess.

I remember a story about a man who went to a physiotherapist and had a colonic irrigation with a high pressure water pumping machine. The stuff pumped out is filtered to see if they catch anything interesting, gall stones, perhaps worms, and in his case they found a seed. Someone in a lab identified it. It came from a South Pacific island when he was working as a sailor there during World War II some 40-years earlier!  What do you think of that? Well, I think it indicates the stories are truth. Some people get their colon all clogged and out of normal healthy shape and strength! Some medical people may refute that assertion but we’ve seen it in what comes out of a man after a colonic irrigation and we’ve seen some very interesting things on X-ray photos.

On x-ray we can see the part of the picture that has the label “colon” on it. That is called the Transverse colon, so as you might guess now we have an ascending, transverse and descending colon. On some people the transverse colon is hanging down forming a loop like a hanging garden hose. Inside there’s a space the thickness of your finger through which “stuff” can flow and all the rest of the fecal material is plastered like a rubbery tar on the colon walls. As you can imagine this can do some terrible things to a body.

It can be at a young age too! I knew a fellow with the worst skin condition you’ve ever seen from age 12. He had acne all over his face, ears, neck, back, chest, trunk, and cysts were forming. His breath was bad. That kid needed a complete change of eating habits and this treatment is what finally cured him.

fountain syringe.jpgThe immediate need is for flushing the colon out with water which is properly called a Colonic Irrigation. A Colonic Irrigation is a cleansing of the rectum and colon with water. It can be done with a water pressure machine but it’s better you do it yourself with a bag of warm water called a “fountain syringe” pictured here.

So many people learn a word from someone else but never look it up so they hear the word “colonic.” as in: “I got a colonic.”  They find out a little bit of what that means but never know the entire term. The washing out of the colon is properly called a “colonic irrigation.” You don’t need a machine and a physical therapist. Actually I prefer you don’t. Higher pressurize water might cause damage to an already weakened area.

If your colon is in extremely bad condition do as I’m teaching with just a little water – half the water the first month. Give your body time to regenerate itself. As for asking your medical doctor, I looked over several articles. There is a dearth of information, a lack of research about it. Medical doctors do not study about it. The medical doctor, a digestive tract specialist, I read at the website “Live Science” sounded like she had no idea what to tell you. She’s clueless because she has no training or experience about it! So asking those people, well-meaning as they may be, is likely a big mistake and a waste of your money and time.

You need one of these (pictured above). It’s called a Fountain Syringe. They sell for between $11 and $20 and can be used for a hot water bottle or other things (not recommended.) Pay for the better one and it will last almost “forever.”

We’re not talking about a little enema which is maybe two cups of water and does almost nothing for the user. We’re talking about this “hot water bottle” holding about 1-quart of warm water. Fill it, hang it from a hook with the hose end pointed down, (which on this model is the same end as the filling end.) If you have no place to hang it, lay it on the bathroom counter top, plug it into yourself while lying on your back, and let as much water go into you as possible. When you can’t take any more sit on the toilet and let all that awful stuff flush out. You’ll feel the water go up your left side first. You can rub the area in small gentle circles with your fingertips. Be gentle about it, please.

Some people have a little trouble with this the first few times and then they get better at it. Meantime, their colon is restoring it’s right shape and strength so the water and fecal material flushes out more efficiently. Some people recommend doing it twice. This is going to take a hour or more so you’ll have to schedule this for a time when you can finish, shower, and stay home a while. More water might slowly pass down and you’ll have to release it.

This routine MAY prevent a great many maladies  including colon cancer and high blood cholesterol and high blood pressure. arthritis and gout, and the illnesses mentioned earlier. I can’t guarantee this colon poisoning is the cause of these maladies, but I think it’s very likely.

Well, why do it? If you combine this with proper eating which would include higher fiber intake, (more in another article) and the digestive enzymes I’m recommending, your entire digestive system over time will restore itself. You’ll get slimmer and younger and feel a world better. No doctor can do this. No surgeon can do this. Drugs do not do this. Drinking a lot of water cannot do this. (Well, it hasn’t yet has it?) Is it right for you? I think if you’re past age 21 and feeling miserable it’s right for you.

You might VERY SLOWLY get the same results with a high fiber eating regimen and light doses of detoxification tea – a little daily. We will offer Detoxification Tea in our catalog. We can offer fiber powder in capsules too. If you prefer that method we’ve gone out of our way to study and select the best of these products. It would not hurt you to buy and drink a little prune juice daily too.

The Chinese have been drinking Green Tea as a detoxifier for centuries and it helps their colon clear itself properly. They live younger and longer, so there’s a possible example for you. But…you see, they don’t talk about it. Most other doctors and authors won’t write about it. They think the subject will be embarrassing and unpopular. So, I concluded if I don’t write about it, no one will.

It costs nothing. You do this alone at home. Naturopaths recommend it daily for a month and then every other day for a while. Some people just keep on doing it all of their years. They feel so much healthier, they’re quietly happy they have made it a habit. It is possible you might flush a lot of very dangerous worms and other evil parasites down the toilet doing this, which quite truthfully is one of the best things that can ever happen to you.

I mentioned, I knew a boy with terrible acne who got all sorts of medical treatment and nothing worked. After he used this method his skin and breath cleared up. More about that here. The skin is poisoned and the body is doing all it can to release those poisons.

Well? What if you’re someplace where you can’t do it? That’s very rare, but after two or three days your body will be pushing fecal material overboard in the usual way, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Look around the Internet. See if you can find anyone who can even begin to explain the cause and cure of Leaky Gut Syndrome. They don’t know! Some of them have degrees in physiology, and can’t tell you what’s happening or how to cure it. You know now because I just taught it to you, at no charge!

And then there are swarms of advertising writers who make up fantastic advertising stories but have no wisdom about physiology. Most of what they say is half right. There are these days many young people who earn $50 for a short article so they collect everything they can, including all the errors, and repeat them! They turn out two or three articles a day and make their living that way. They have no idea what they’re writing about!

The magazine editor doesn’t know either, so she just sends it on to be “published!” This time you’re getting the straight information from a true natural healing doctor from “the old schooling” methods. I know what’s happening and I teach it.

I admit I don’t love writing bout this but considering how many very sick people are struggling, I thought it was morally the right thing to do.

I’m asking you again;  Who else is taking the time and effort to teach you like I am? No one so far as I can tell. Please reward me by doing business here. Everything you need for good natural nutrition and much more is being added to our ever growing catalog, and we always work to find the best products and keep prices reasonable. We would value having you as a customer and the company will do whatever is necessary to provide you with excellent service – which is a rarity these days.

I grew up in a small family owned business. I began learning business management attitudes from a very young age. Earning your business and being thankful for your patronage is a normal ingrained part of my personality. Everyone working with my firm knows that I want them to do all we can to keep every customer satisfied that we did a good job for them each and every time for every order.

At this writing we aren’t carrying fountain syringes. In future we probably will. Meantime you can find this item at your local drugstore.

Acne

Don’t treat the skin! Treat the gut!

The typical approach medicine takes is, “The skin is sick, so treat the skin.” It’s more like “attack and punish” the skin! I think that’s the wrong approach.

Medical doctors are not trained to think back to the source. Why is the skin sick? Where is the poisoning coming from? Why does the boy have bad breath? I’ll answer these questions and give you a different way of looking at how to care for sick people, including yourself!

Of course most of us know the claimed causes of Acne are emotional distress, adolescent hormone imbalances, and incorrect nutrition. But no one goes beyond that explain what is happening physiologically. Consequently, no one in the medical field ever goes to the source and final cure for the problem. They are never trained to think like true healers. They’re trained to sell pharmaceuticals, and they’re well paid to do it!

I knew a boy who had acne vulgarus.  That poor fellow really needed help. I suspect if I had not learned the “cure” and taught him, he would be long ago dead of colon or liver cancer. Let’s consider the physiology further.

Good Colon Health = Good Systemic Health

This is from my book, Eat More, Get Thinner. It’s perfect for getting your body clean INside. If you want the instant “how to get thin” information it’s simply this. Eat about 90% of your food as green vegetables and whole grains like brown rice and oat meal.

Cut out all the sweet foods, sugar, white flour, and alcoholic beverages, and deep fried foods.. Get some exercise every day. Make this your new eating life style. Inevitably you’ll get healthier and slimmer. The book explains all the physiology and gives many food recipes. It’s meant to be a quick and easily understood piece. I’m revising it.

If you were only to learn all I can teach in this chapter it could save your health and your life. Americans have an aversion to talking about their body. In fact they often call it “the body” as if it isn’t theirs. They sound like aliens in a sci-fi movie moving into a body, using it for a while, then dropping it and taking on a replacement.

It’s your body and there are no replacement parts available. Treat it right and it will serve you well. Treat it poorly and it will burden you like ghost Jacob Marley’s weighted chain. You’ll drag your sickly body around for the rest of your uncomfortable days.

I’m sorry if this is upsetting to some readers, and I really don’t mean to “gross you out,” or seem terribly weird. Any biologist will tell you all life has to take in nutrients and eliminate what it can’t use. The elimination system is just as important as all the others. Your physical health is not only dependent on what food and clean water and air you take in. It is dependent upon your ability to excrete poisons and byproducts of metabolism. I’ll tell you what weird is….It’s people who would prefer to get sick and die rather than take good care of their body. It’s the 40-year-old man who suddenly becomes a 6-year-old and says, “I don WIKE Wegtables.” When a patient of that description said that to me in my clinic years ago I thought, Well maybe he will like colon cancer and continued low back pain better.

There are several factors with which we must concern ourselves. Firstly, the diet plan assumes that you have a healthy digestive system.  If you don’t, you can’t absorb the vitamins and minerals you need, and you will be resistant to weight loss and getting healthy. So now I’m going to tell you things no other medical doctor will ever tell, and almost none have ever written about.

American’s once ate 500 pounds of green leafy vegetables per year, and now they hardly eat any. In fact the grocery stores statistics say the average American family of four spends less than $9.00 per week in the produce department. Seems impossible but my grocer tells me that’s a true statistic.

When scientists followed primitive people around in Africa they found something out that no one had considered. The time it takes for something they eat to pass through them and out is under 12 hours. American’s eat something on Sunday and it may not pass out of them until the next Sunday! That means all of that “stuff” is rotting in their body the entire week with more and more rotten stuff following. The African bush people eat a lot of leaves, nuts, berries, seeds, little twigs, and other fiber products. Most Americans eat almost none. All over Asia people eat 80% or more as vegetables.

I especially like oatmeal because it provides excellent fiber and holds moisture in the colon allowing a more complete evacuation of fats and toxic material. There is no way you can expect to be healthy if you’re carrying a lot of toxins around with you. If your skin is broken out, these pimples and puss jewels are indicative of poison in the blood and deeper skin layers. The skin is attempting to eliminate this poison! The liver and kidneys cannot do it, so the skin is called into action to do what it can. That, I believe, is the real source of most of this problem.

Let me tell a little more about better food, personal care and skin treatment.

I make flat bread every morning partly because I’m allergic to milk, whey and all the “dough conditioners” manufacturers put into bread. This is as ancient as the times of Moses. Just mix whole wheat flour with a little water and a dash of oil. You might add a dash of baking soda.

Now knead it into a sticky ball and keep kneading, adding more flour until you can roll it flat on a cutting board. I use the outer (small finger) edge of my hand and roll the back of the hand toward the bread, pushing it along and making it thinner. Finally when it’s about a quarter of an inch thick I put it on a hot frying pan and let it heat a few minutes until it has become bread. As I say, the formula is 5000 years old and actually it’s so intuitive – you already know how to do this. It’s part of our “racial memory” and as soon as you try doing it you’ll just remember how. Just try it and you’ll see.

Just add flour, turn it over, roll it, knead it, and finally flatten and heat it. If you prefer a rolling pin, no harm done. If you want to use baking powder and baking soda, even yeast, of course you can. You probably are a better cook than I am.

I am a very strong advocate for brown rice. I replace bread with brown rice for my main meal of the day, which is usually lunch.

Brown rice is the whole grain with the fiber, vitamins and minerals. It is a nutrient dense food that also contains protein and almost no allergic reactions for anyone. For many reasons brown rice should be made up and in the fridge or on your table every day. Yes, even if you’re losing weight a quarter cup of cooked brown rice on your dinner plate will do you more good than you can imagine.

Brown rice, and when you find it Red rice, is natural as it grows. White rice grows white and then is milled a bit to be whiter. But that milling removes some of the best minerals and vitamins. So, I avoid white rice. Asians eat a lot of white rice and many of them nowadays are overweight. Eat brown and if it’s a new flavor and mouth feel for you, please try it for a month before you decided you don’t like it. Mix it with a little soy sauce, mix it into soups. Make brown rice a staple of your eating regimen.

Many Naturopaths and some old-time physiotherapists know that most modern westerners have colons that are in terrible trouble. On x-ray the colons are swollen at the corners (flexures) and atrophied along their longer runs. (I’ve seen many x-ray photos showing this.)

The transverse colon is often displaced, hanging in a loop when it should be self supporting. Elderly people have colons that look like thick conduits. You can sometimes see it under their skin, under their shirt  as they walk. They want to lose weight. They can start by losing 10 pounds of the mud they carry with them.

These people often have a coating on the inside of their intestine made of white sugar and white flour. This paste or tar becomes a hard mass trapping dangerous bacteria. The bacteria produce terrible poisons, and the poisons eventually work through capillaries and find their way into the blood stream. This raises blood acidity making it impossible for the blood to absorb and pass on many minerals, the first one being iodine.

Without normal iodine we have a mild form of hypothyroidism. (The thyroid produces too little thyroxin.) Thyroxin works in concert with adrenaline from the adrenal glands, and adrenaline controls metabolism. If you’re tired all the time, and cold often, and feeling kind of weak, sort of sexless, energy-less, and disinterested in life, and you find you can’t lose weight, it may be because your thyroid isn’t working. Taking more thyroid medication isn’t the right answer, cleansing the colon is the right treatment.

But of course, the medical people don’t know that. They don’t think backward to find the source of a problem. The thyroid is sick, so they’ll treat the thyroid, or just cover the symptom with thyroxin taken orally or via injection. Every time you buy a prescription medication the doctor gets a commission from the pharmaceutical firm.

Why do you suppose we have so much colon cancer in the the US? The colon has had hot acids and poisons against its mucus membrane for so long the irritation finally turned normal cells into cancer cells, just as the Trophoblastic Thesis said it would.

If you’re at all interested in cancer therapy you know the name Loren Biser. Biser reports old time physiotherapists doing colonic irrigations (washing the colon out with pumped water) have found parasites, (worms) molds, and even seeds that had to be years old because they could have only been eaten during a foreign military adventure.

We Americans don’t eat enough fiber and the result is illness. If we did, our tract time would be faster, we would absorb less fat and fewer calories and be slimmer and healthier.

  • If you show metabolic resistance to weight reduction.
  • If you’re tired and cold often.
  • If your intestines bother you.
  • If you often feel kind of bloated and burning, cramping, gaseous, and uncomfortable you need to start treating the problem.

fountain syringeYou can start by taking a good digestive enzyme tablet. You also would be well advised to buy a “fountain syringe” at your local drug store. (Look for the brand Good Health by “Faultless.” in the “Feminine Hygiene” section of your pharmacy.) “Fountain Syringe” is a fancy name for a water bag that opens only at one end. It can be used as a hot water bottle, or for douching, or for washing your guts out.

I know this may sound horrible, (it’s not) but if it makes you healthier and costs nothing, who cares? What you do in your bathroom for your own personal hygiene is your business. If it keeps you years younger, you don’t have to explain it to anyone. It can be your secret.

I’m only asking you to be more logical than emotional in your thinking here. I knew a man who called it “kinky.” What does flushing your guts out have to do with sex? NOTHING. The statement is entirely illogical, unless you’re as weird as he was. (and he WAS. I wonder why his wife tolerated him.)

Don’t be squeamish. It’s just mud and it’s got to be washed overboard if you ever expect to be healthy – or do you prefer to carry all of that poison around with you, finally get cancer and die?

If you want to see “gross,” see people walking around sickly, looking awful, smelling of poisons, literally carrying rotting putrefactive material around in their intestine and colon. That’s gross! Now you see them so old and sick and drugged they don’t know which end is up! When I reached age 65 I moved to live  mostly in The Philippines. Lately I read about the “Opioid crisis” in the US and I’m just horrified. Can a nation be productive when it’s young people are driving drugged and working drugged and socializing while drugged? No wonder many older people don’t like to drive or go shopping. Many people are afraid to go out these days.

This treatment with a fountain syringe isn’t some silly little “fleet enema” with 8 ounces of water. This bag holds about 1 quart of water. To wash yourself out, fill it with warmer water, place the bag on the counter by the sink, lie on your back, pull your knees up toward your chest,  gently slip the slender tube connector end into your anus and open the clip valve. You should put your feet up on a wall or on the floor close to your butt raising your knees. You can try rolling onto your left side encouraging the water to run colorectal-smallup the LEFT side through the descending colon, across the transverse colon, and into the ascending colon. You can feel the water and even massage small circles along the route of the colon to more effectively break dirt off the colon walls and flush it out. Start at your lower left abdomen and rub small circles there and follow along the length of the colon shown on the diagram.

You may feel cramping. Rubbing or massaging the cramped and distended area will allow the muscles to relax and the water to run further up and make the turn at the flexure going across the abdomen under your rib cage, and then turn again and go down the rightt side.

At first this may not be easy. You may not be able to make much progress the first two or three tries. But if you do it every day for a month and then two or three times per week for as long as a year you’ll return the colon to normal condition.

It is not unpleasant once you get used to this. When you feel clean and comfortable inside you’ll see the value of it. When your skin and breath get clean and clear and you lose weight and look and feel younger you’ll think you found the fountain of extended youth. You of course would prefer to avoid acne scars. This self treatment costs nothing. Visiting a skin doctor who charges a lot and does not cure you, is just throwing money away!

I recommend you do this when you can stay home for an hour or two. For you evening two hours before bedtime might be better.

I know most readers won’t do this, and that’s too sad for them. But if you intuitively know you need to, I request urgently that you begin and I know it will improve your health significantly. As you detoxify the intestine, the liver will also detoxify. Your skin and breath will clean up and you’ll feel better and look better than you have in years. You’ll absorb fewer free radicals and other poisons and regain much of your youth. Believe me, it’s quite an experience to be clean inside and out and feel yourself getting healthier every day. If you are still age 15 or a little older you’ll develop a better looking body by getting the right nutrients into it. Girls want beautiful figures. Young men want more results from their exercise. But you will not get those results if your digestive system is sick!

When you reach age 50 and are still slim and “youthful” while everyone else around you is “falling apart” or going to their early grave you’ll know this effort is worth any life style or schedule change.

Actually it’s really convenient to have no need to run for a bathroom and be “trapped there” for several minutes, while you’re out shopping or at work. You get your body schedule under your control early. Get clean inside and outside. Thank God you have the freedom  and wealth to do it! The rest of the day you’ll be energetic and trouble free while other people have to be “indisposed” from their work when they should be available.

You might experience cramping the first day or two. You’ll flush out more horrible stuff than you have ever imagined. You’ll also get healthier than you have ever thought probable.

You should know this is not a “new” idea. It was taught from before the time of Christ using a gourd hollowed out and hung from a tree. One of the apocryphal manuscripts records Jesus teaching it.

Like everything else in life, some people take calculated risks and make big improvements in their life. Other people never make a change and continue to live the same unchanging life they always have lived. It’s your choice. If you want to be healthy it’s time for a change. I know many who have done it. They are physiologically 15-years younger than the condition of others the same age. We all have a physiological age and a calendar age.

Combining this information with good nutritional supplements has been in every respect successful for me and other patients. My blood indexes and my physical performance is like that of younger men. I want this success for you too. It’s not magic. You just have to do what I recommend

Leaning over people in my work it’s always obvious to my nose when they have a “sick” colon.  If you want “clean breath” forget the breath mints. Clean the poisons out of your body. If someone is “rotting” inside, I always know it, and I can predict who has the greater chance of colon cancer in the future.

I dare say, considering how toxic that boy I knew was, he probably would have died of cancer by now if he had not learned these things and made these changes. I don’t think any of this was accidental. I believe God was involved.

Many of us are are so fortunate. I Born in the USA, to people who respected education, ending up at Palmer College of Chiropractic (the Harvard of Chiropractic colleges) studying more than the college taught at seminars outside and graduating with more hours of education than any of my class mates, meeting the right teachers at the right moment. I have been blessed and privileged. First I must apply this knowledge to myself, and I do, and second I must pass it on. So I do so, and I thank God.]

Now you know the basis of extended youth. First comes detoxification. Then, add in the best supplementation and moderate exercise. Third, think about what you eat before you eat it. Is it good for you? If not, avoid it. All of my blood indices show the parameters of a younger man.

If you’re serious about doing your own colonic irrigations I suggest you boil the water for 10 minutes the night before, or use filtered water or well water that you know you can trust. Many city water systems are polluted with parasite cysts and you should not drink it or wash your colon out with it.

To speed up weight reduction or to pare off that couple of inches around your waist that just won’t go I suggest you do colon cleansing in the morning when you wake before your shower, and in the evening an hour before bed.

If you find you have intestinal gas and discomfort that keeps you from having a good sleep, certainly you would want to “gut wash” again before bed.

If you follow my recommendations as outlined here and above it’s a 99% guarantee you’re going to get healthier and lose weight.

A discussion about Coffee and intestinal poisoning is necessary, and I think this is the right place for it. I cannot stress too much the importance of this so please consider this carefully.

The modern Western diet, especially in the US includes a lot of coffee drinking. Many Americans begin the day with a cup of coffee and it may extend to coffee drinking through the day.

Coffee, soda soft drinks and several other food preservatives are notorious for their tendency to kill the “friendly” bacteria that belong in your colon. When the bacteria we need are reduced they’re replaced with the dangerous ones that do us serious harm. Instead now I drink green tea and sometimes a half teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of hot water.

People living on coffee and sugar soda drinks begin to notice that they don’t digest what they eat well. They have more food allergies. They suffer with intestinal gas, bloating, and cramping.

Their skin begins to darken and sag around the eyes and jaw. Their energy is reduced. Their sexual interest is more in the mind than the body. We joke, “The older I get the better I was,” because there’s no energy for the joys of life any longer.

Ingestion of coffee will reduce the overall bio-electromagnetic field noted with a lower frequency output.

Bacteria that should be “trapped” in the colon managed to populate the entire alimentary tract (from anus to mouth.) It’s no wonder that the breath often smells like a sewer!

When I see people who are overweight, with skin turning gray, bloodshot eyes, dark semi-circles beneath the eyes, and so forth – I know that this person’s body is poisoned and that serious disease and reduce lifespan must follow.

The American Medical Association did a study and released notes about it on October 12, 2004. They said that for some inexplicable reason stomach size reduction operations (stomach stapling) results in reduced weight, reduced high blood pressure, normalization of cholesterol levels, and even the cure (sometimes) of diabetes.

As usual, they prove to be confused about physiology. The obvious is missed. Here’s my hypothesis.

Stomach stapling is uncomfortable and eating for several months thereafter is difficult and painful. The patient becomes intensely mindful of what he is eating and eats more fresh healthy food, avoiding the “dead” deep fried and sugared “fast foods.” Over time the intestine clears of some of those poisons. The body makes improvements noted as improved blood indices.

I also know a patient who had her stomach stapled and 20 years later she is thin as a rail and is constantly sick with something.

You must understand this. Your body is a flowing energy system. You will never understand it if you see it only as a carbon-oxygen machine made of organs with plumbing and wiring connecting it together. The human body is MORE than the sum of its parts. When life leaves the body its constituent parts are still there. What is missing is the spirit that animates it, and the energy flow that we call “life”.

Likewise, when you eat a piece of fruit its “freshness” (which can be measured chemically as a sulfur compound) is a measure of the life force left in it. A “synthetic apple” (if there were such a thing) made from coal tar derived chemicals and fake flavors could never impart life to you and would consequently be a flavored poison.

Synthetic foods from chemical labs are not food. Food that has been grown in fertilizer and then picked before it is ripe, and then gassed, shipped, cooked, flash frozen and finally delivered to your table can never impart life to you in the way fresh foods can.

Bodybuilders know this. The European lads from the 1970’s and 1980’s who have made their name in that sport advocated eating fresh foods and said they never used “performance enhancing drugs.”

I saw some previously unpublished photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was “beautiful” when he was age 19 and he didn’t have supplements then. He ate real food and worked out with weights intensively. If he had stayed just like that and never gained any more muscle the girls would have flocked to him. He and the others of his time advocated eating fresh foods, and shunned chemicals. They worked hard, and applied science to their workouts. They developed beautiful bodies. LATER when Bodybuilding became a big money sport, the magazine publisher Joe Weider started telling everyone to get bigger and bigger, they began using steroids, and dying at age 55!

If you having the symptoms I’ve described, it is absolutely vital that you perform colonic irrigations (also called high “enemas” – I just hate the word) daily – maybe even every morning before you shower and every night before bed.

Do this for at least 4-months. Better – do it every morning or every second morning or evening for a year and really heal your colon and allow it to return to its proper shape and condition. Eventually you’ll realize what flushes out of you smells more like burned food or seaweed on the beach than putrefactive material. Considering that your body’s salt ratio is similar to that of sea water it gives you something to think about.

There are herbal detoxification formulations we will have available. A poisoned liver must be cleansed before the body can return to health and optimal weight. Herbal formulations help cleanse poisons from the liver.

You must make an all out effort to be healthy. As your health improves, your weight will reduce naturally and you’ll be healthy inside and out. You’ll look healthy. You’ll smell healthy. Your mouth will be healthy. You’ll find you won’t build plaque on your teeth. You’ll know what few Americans do. You’ll know what true health is all about and you will indeed become physiologically younger and will thereby lengthen your life expectancy. Combine this advice with advanced nutrition support products and exercise, and you’ll gain years to your life, and add life to your years.

So….now you’re beginning to get the notion that every time you or someone is sick you DO NOT rush to see the MD. You find ways to care for yourself naturally and give that a try first.

IF after you’ve exhausted every idea without a good result, move up a notch and try a Chiropractor or the MD. IF that doesn’t help probably you’re headed for surgery. (We surely hope not!) Try fasting for a few days first. Some have fasted when all else failed and gotten well!

The point is, you don’t start with the most radical (surgery) first! You start with the most conservative every time. Start with nutrition, Swedish massage and a mix of massage and Chiropractic.

Get some rest, walking, fresh air and sunshine. Think about what’s stressing you out and if it’s someone who’s driving you mildly neurotic, separate yourself from that person for a time and see what happens. I knew a woman who separated herself from her incredibly weirdo husband and her chronic full body itching stopped. No medicine helped. Nothing helped. She got rid of “Mr. Jerk” and she got well.

Maybe the problem is a food allergy, or an allergy to the insecticide sprayed on the food! Look at everything related to nutrition first.

I’ve got one last story for you. I made a big mistake years ago. I started drinking coffee at the local grocery store. They gave it away free in the hope you’d taste their flavored coffee and buy some. So I went in, bought groceries and wandered around with a moca mix. Delicious. I got the jitters (which didn’t do much good for my hypoglycemia) but for the occasional sinful moment, it was pleasant and the jitters was, I thought, just a short term effect. I thought the jitters came from caffeine. Maybe not. Maybe it came from herbicide poisoning….

I developed a sty; A lump in my eye lid. The eye doctor (Ophthamologist) said I should try first applying hot compresses. The sty is like a pore from which is exuded eye lubrication. It gets blocked up and swells into a terrible looking lump. In that everyone looks at your eyes everyone asks, “What’s wrong with your eye.” This was NOT a happy event in my life. Sometimes the hot compress releases the plug in the pore and it gets well. Not for me!

Finally, all avenues exhausted I’m in surgery, first one eye, THEN the other! The doctor doesn’t get it. He says I’m strangely susceptible now. I don’t know the cause either. Finally, I do some prayer and deep listening. “Quit the coffee. It’s poisonous for you.”

So, I quit and the problem never returned. Later I learned the herbicide is made in America but according to the FDA it’s too poisonous for American people, and is not available for sale to American farmers. BUT it’s okay to sell it to South American farmers (coffee growers) who harvest the poisoned crop and sell it to – me.

But these same herbicides cause cancer in rats, and that’s a good reason for all of us to eat organic vegetables, and real oils. (Canola is a chemically created “food oil.” Than name stands for Canada oil. There never was a wild canola. It’s a monstrosity and you should avoid Canola oil. The BEST oils actually are Olive oil, Coconut oil, and Soy oil. You might want to read this.  The Coconut Oil Miracle, 5th Edition by Bruce Fife (Dec 3, 2013)

The moral of the story is, look for environmental toxins, and  food allergies. Next see a Chiropractor and ask him to look for causes of spinal misalignment that is pressing on  cranial and other peripheral nerves. Get the pressure off the nerve and just maybe the problems will clear up like magic. All of this will cost you a good bit less than going from doctor to doctor and side effect to side effect.

  • By the way, (before I forget to mention it) many low back problems start with low back muscles in spasm caused by a poisoned colon which ultimately disturbs the nerves that go to the para-vertebral muscles. Get clean inside and your back might straighten itself out!
  • Another thought: Yes, washing and hot compresses to cleanse the skin are good things to do and the new special skin cleansing soaps appear to be very effective. The plugs that form in pores are made of a waxy substance. The hot soapy water melts the wax and they’ll clean out. Don’t scrub like you’re trying to sand paint off a wall. Just gently get your skin as clean as you can two to three times daily. We are looking for good skin soaps for acne at a reasonable price. When we know we have a winner you’ll see it in our catalog.

I practice what I preach. So far, thank God, I have no serious illnesses. I’m age 68 and still in good condition. “All systems are working within normal parameters.” That’s a little joke from an old movie, but honestly I can go for a long run. Every week I do a bit of exercise daily, chin ups and dips one day, push-ups and deep knee squats another day, stretching, working to strengthen the erector spinae back muscles. I do some abdominal work every night before I sleep. Drink a lot of water. It’s all been good for me and I think it will be for you too. Thanks for reading….

Please remember, you just read a lot of information that other doctors and “general writers” don’t know, have no experienced and will never teach. You go it for free! So, please pay me back by doing business with our company. You’ll get excellent products, fast service, and honest prices. If there ever are problems (very very few!) we don’t make up excuses. We work to make it all right as quickly as we can!

Osteoporosis: Could Probiotics Protect Bone Strength?

Dr. Stephen Newdell

Osteoporosis predominantly affects older adults, but bone loss can start at as early as age 40. Recently, scientists have found that probiotics might be a safe and effective tool to help fight bone loss.

As we age, the interlinked bone structure (shown here) slowly becomes less robust.

Bones do not just grow once and then stay the same for life.

Instead, bone is made up of living tissue that is constantly being broken and remodeled into new bone.

This process is more efficient when we are young. By around age 30, the body stops increasing bone mass, and once we reach our 40s and 50s, more bone might be being broken down than we are replacing.

Over time, this can result in osteoporosis. Bones gradually lose mineral mass and strength, which can lead to fractures — even from a simple fall. More often, what really happens is the patient’s bone has become so brittle and fragile the bone breaks under its weight-bearing stress, and then she falls! People often say, “My mother fell and broke a hip.” Quite to the contrary, the hip broke, and then the muscles went weak because the nervous system was protecting the joints above and below the break, and she fell.

Older women tend to have a higher risk of developing osteoporosis, but the condition can affect men as well.

Other risk factors may include breaking a bone after the age of 50, experiencing early menopause, having a smaller body frame, smoking tobacco, and having a family history of osteoporosis.

Fractures can have severe consequences; for instance, during the first year after a hip fracture, mortality rates rise 24–30 percent due to the risk of complications.

Osteoporosis becomes more of an issue the older we get, and women tend to lose bone mass quickly during menopause. Regardless, by the time we reach our 70s, both men and women lose bone mass at around the same rate.

Medications are available that can help treat osteoporosis, but preventing or slowing the initial bone loss would be a vast improvement.

Preventing osteoporosis:

A recent study, published in the journal Immunity, tested the ability of a probiotic to enhance bone growth.

The researchers, led by senior study author Roberto Pacifici — of Emory University in Atlanta, GA — tackled this topic with female laboratory mice. The scientists gave them oral Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG supplementation for a period over 4 weeks.

The team revealed that the probiotic stimulated the growth of gut bacteria that produce a particular metabolite called butyrate. Butyrate, in turn, prompted T cells in bone marrow to produce a protein called Wnt10b, which is vital for bone growth.

“We were surprised by the potency of the gut microbiome in regulating bone and by the complexity of the mechanism of action of probiotics.”  Roberto Pacifici

He explains that probiotics are somewhat controversial, adding, “Because their mechanism of action in bone is unknown, they are regarded as some kind of alternative, esoteric, unproven treatment.”

If there is not a body of scientific evidence thanks to experimentation and surveys then indeed the “treatment” is unproven. However, we know that improved digestion and absorption of vitamins, minerals and other vital elements will improve overall body health. People past age 30 generally begin to run into digestion troubles and many related illnesses. As is discussed in other digestion articles on this website, improving the digestive system health brings about a great many overall health improvements, some rather unexpected. Cleansing the digestive system of dangerous toxins and perhaps parasites would be the first step. Improving the bacterial balance in the digestive system by taking a daily dose of probiotics would be the second absolutely essential part of the health treatment protocol. Our pages offering digestive enzymes and probiotics may help you cure yourself of many heretofore chronic problems!

Probiotic research shows that probiotics can affect bone structure in a positive way. Pacifici also believes that the number of bacteria contained in the probiotics may be as important as the probiotic that is used, but more research is needed to confirm this.

Limits of this study

Keep in mind this study was on mice, and not humans. The authors say that there is need to continue with the research. They would like to understand whether probiotics could help in other bone conditions and hope this research is continued with humans.

“Our findings will need to be validated in human studies,” explains Pacifici. He notes that if those studies are successful, it may pave the way for an inexpensive and well-tolerated treatment that can help optimize skeletal development in young people and may help prevent osteoporosis in older people.

Their continued experimentation may take years. Their treatment will come from a pharmaceutical laboratory and will be expensive. The less expensive, immediate, and likely effective action will be to read my other articles about digestion, and purchases the supplements which have been recommended after exhaustive study and observations of improvement in patient’s conditions.

After Centuries of Silence At Last Revealed–Life Extending Secrets of The Korean KimChi Masters!

kimchi-nutrition-facts.jpg

There are trillions of tiny creatures living in our bodies and they have been making headlines and teaching people to take better care of their digestive system. Good bacteria are necessary for all animals to have normal, healthy digestion. In people they do many functions including making vitamin K, essential for blood clotting. Yeast is a form of bacteria used to make bread. Other bacteria are involved in making cheese and other foods we love.

These good bacteria—particularly those in our digestive tract—improve digestion, boost immunity and help us maintain a healthy weight. Research is still emerging on just how important these mighty microbes might be for our health, but the early results are promising. Take care of your digestive tract. You’ll be glad you did!

Eating foods packed with probiotics—good bacteria—is one way to improve your digestive system health and your general frame of mind. Fermented foods, like yogurt and kimchi, are rich in probiotics. The good bacteria grow during the fermentation process. Add the listed seven fermented foods to your diet for a healthy dose of probiotics.

These bacteria are especially important because they chase out dangerous bacteria and parasites! Those dangerous creatures in your digestive system can be the source of many illnesses including depression, general tiredness, lack of well-being, lack of energy for anything, and lack of drive to do more with your everyday life, and some bad bacteria can cause stomach cancer!

There are several fermented foods popular across the world.

Sauerkraut Made from just cabbage and salt, this fermented food delivers a healthy dose of probiotics and fiber.

Kimchi Sauerkraut’s Korean cousin, this fermented cabbage dish is spicy. The best in the world is made in Carcar City, south of Cebu City, Philippines. The community is  becoming a food lovers tourist destination city since that particular Kimchi business opened. Kimchi is a spicy side dish made from fermented vegetables and Korean red pepper. It is consumed daily by 95 percent of South Koreans and is deeply ingrained in their culture, one writer said, ‘with a near religious fervor.’1

Kefir a fermented milk drink—it tastes like drinkable yogurt

Kombucha  is a tangy, effervescent tea—typically black or green—that’s rich in good-for-you yeast and bacteria. The drink is often flavored with herbs or fruit.

Miso A fermented paste made from barley, rice or soybeans

Tempeh is made from naturally fermented soybeans.

Yogurt made by fermenting milk.

Kimchi is a quintessential Korean dish. It is made from vegetables, most often cabbage, which are fermented with lactic acid (an acid your body produces so it’s safe for us) bacteria and flavored with Korean red pepper. … Korean red pepper, called gochugaru, is what distinguishes kimchi from other fermented vegetables.

Usually served as a side dish, kimchi has a spicy, savory flavor that has been embraced by home chefs, foodies and casual diners all over the world. Interestingly, kimchi has fallen out of favor with younger generations in Korea, who are testing heavily processed American cheese. It won’t be long before those young people decide processed cheese is out of style and return to their honorable grandparent’s kimchi!

Kimchi dates back at least two millennia and was probably developed to preserve cabbage and prevent starvation during the severe Korean winters. There are over 200 varieties of kimchi, but the most common variant is made with Napa cabbage, Korean red pepper and a mix of aromatic ingredients such as garlic.8

The gochugaru pepper is crushed into a powder and gives kimchi both its distinctive appearance and fiery flavor. Gochugaru is also the primary catalyst of the fermentation process.9 Studies have shown that it influences the composition of the microbial communities and metabolites formed during fermentation.10

The other core component of classic kimchi is Napa cabbage. Originating in China, the dense and cylindrical cabbage has milder flavor than traditional cabbage. Even before fermentation, it packs an impressive nutritional punch and is loaded with vitamins and minerals.11

Koreans have enjoyed kimchi for thousands of years, but it first began to gain international recognition during the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea.2

The timeless staple of Korean dining was viewed as both a potential source of pride and embarrassment. Officials worried that the strong odor of kimchi would repulse the throngs of visiting athletes, tourists and journalists.

Despite these concerns, kimchi was made one of the official foods of the Olympic village. This was only natural considering its importance in Korean culture, but they also made an effort to make it more acceptable to those not accustomed to its odor.

It was reported that event staff were instructed to brush their teeth after they ate kimchi.3

Contrary to predictions, the spicy and pungent flavors of kimchi received favorable reception from the Olympic athletes and the visiting audience at large.4 The international exposure served as a catalyst for kimchi’s popularity, and it has continued to gain recognition in the ensuing decades.

There is a lot more to kimchi than its bold, savory flavors. Science has provided us with greater appreciation of the microbial benefits of fermented foods and their influence on gut health.

Health Benefits of Kimchi

Kimchi owes its recent spike in worldwide popularity to the growing backlash against ultra-processed food. Consumers are now looking for natural foods that provide additional health benefits.12 As a fermented food loaded with nutrients and healthy microbes, kimchi certainly fits the bill.13

Napa cabbage kimchi, the most common variety, has only 15 calories per half-cup serving and contains vitamins A, B, C and K. It is also loaded with vital minerals like potassium, calcium and magnesium.14

Flavorful Korean red pepper gives kimchi its trademark appearance and is rich in capsaicin,15 a spice that provides unique health benefits including pain relief, cancer prevention, weight loss, gastrointestinal health and cardio-protective influence.16 Many kimchi recipes include additional beneficial ingredients such as garlic, radish, ginger, scallions and shallots. Garlic may effectively combat Helicobacter pylori, which is a serious risk factor for stomach ulcers and stomach cancer.17 So….could eating Kimchi prevent stomach ulcers and cancer? It might but no one is presently testing a large population to be certain. I doubt anyone ever will.

Kimchi is loaded with healthy lactic acid bacteria. A 2014 study in the Journal of Medicinal Food states that the health functionality of kimchi includes, “Anticancer, antiobesity, anticonstipation, colorectal health promotion, probiotic properties, cholesterol reduction, fibrolytic effect, antioxidative and antiaging properties, brain health promotion, immune promotion, and skin health promotion.”18

Can you think of anyone who would not benefit from eating a little Kimchi with dinner every day? I think it’s good for everyone! You can find Kimchi in many supermarkets these days. Ask for it.

Caring For and Relieving

Arthritis and Fibromyalgia,

Manage It,

Care For Yourself Better,

Get Relief

Dr. Stephen Newdell

Place a summary of each article at the top for those who don’t like to read long copy

be sure to end the Arthritis articles saying this is a 6-month protocol before you can be sure about it. Chart it, expect good results and over all it is far safer and cheaper than drugs. Same for the Fibromyalgia info

Find mention of ENERGY DRINKS and indicate their dangers and impurities – especially in products coming from China.

FINAL CLOSER

Now you understand, the Food and Drug Administration inspects all drug and nutritional supplement advertising like eagles watching little lambs. I cannot guarantee anything. That would get me in very big trouble. I can tell you, I use these products myself and have good results and many other friends and past patients  take them daily, and even as of this morning, tell me they get good results even though many are in advanced age. So, my best advice is all of what you have read and now it’s up to you to stop being miserable, place your order and get better – AND BETTER! GO HERE

SN

In this article I explain common degenerative joint disease, arthritis, and Fibromyaliga. You’ll understand the differences, what these conditions are, what they look like on x-ray photos, and what you can do to find comfort and relief. This is a large reference piece and I spent quite some time and effort to bring it to you, but I did with the expectation as you go through all of this with me, it will help you have a healthier and much more comfortable life!

I think today, you’ll come to realize how important it is to have someone intensely interested in human physiology on your side. Most people want to sell you endless supplements or worse, endless medications. You don’t need them! You need to understand what’s happening inside your body, and then a few important additional vitamins, minerals and digestive system improvement can help you remove most of the cause of your aches and pains.

Stay with me about this. I know I’m possibly testing your long held view about “reality.” Well…. the reality is, some people have been lying to you for a very long time, and making billions across the world selling drugs people don’t need, and should not be taking!

Fibromyalgia is a true rheumatism, a syndrome of painful muscles and soft tissue. Symptoms include chronic muscle pain, fatigue, sleep problems, and painful tender points or trigger points, which can be relieved through medications, supplements, perhaps lifestyle changes and stress management, massage and Chiropractic.

This special report will cover many of the treatments and suggestions and make final recommendations at the end intended to help you better care for yourself and this condition.

Because so many people — not just those with fibromyalgia — are using complementary health therapies, Congress formed the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH). It is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and it helps appraise complementary health treatments, including supplements, and define their effectiveness. This organization is now creating safe guidelines to help people choose appropriate complementary health approaches that may help their symptoms without making them ill.

Herbs and Supplements for Fibromyalgia

Some preliminary studies indicate that some medicinal herbs and natural supplements may help treat

. There’s a lot of individuality here. These products may help you and may not. As I have indicated in other articles, eating a nutritious diet and taking supplements is helpful, but also healing a sickly digestive system is essential. If we don’t heal the digestive tract a lot of those supplements pass out of the system unabsorbed and wasted.

Before taking a natural approach to treating fibromyalgia, it’s important to learn as much as you can about the therapies you consider. The herbs and natural supplements described in this article are just some of the complementary health approaches that may have an impact on fibromyalgia. When you have a better understanding you’ll know what to do to fit your needs at a reasonable cost and you’ll have a better and more comfortable life.

THERE’S A LOT MORE TO TELL. The entire report is long and  detailed and requires your attention. I don’t want money for the report. I just want you to make the time to read it and plan what you want to do. Download the report FREE of charge, as a PDF file so you can have time to think. Weight Reduction Can Be Easy and Painless

Dr. Stephen Newdell

There are just a very few factors to remember and apply about reducing weight.
1. Calorie Counting is only about 15% of the concern, so don’t go crazy about the numbers
2. Refined Carbohydrate Food turns into blood sugar (glucose) rapidly and that’s very bad for many reasons which I’ll cover shortly.
3. You need some exercise but it can be as easy as a daily brisk walking.
4. The process should be caused by a change to a lifestyle you enjoy and will therefore naturally continue.
5. As part of your overall health picture you must get serious about improving the health of your digestive system. Wash out the cause of allergies, perhaps parasites, everything that is making you sick because being overweight indicates an unhealthy lifestyle and an unhealthy body. Healthy, well fed people naturally stay slim.

I’ll do my best to keep this article short and point to the help you need including my booklet given to you no-Charge! Public tastes have changed. Over 80% of today’s public are unable or unwilling to read a long book, so we writers (including me) are teaching ourselves to keep it short and simple and this booklet does that.

I want to make this point clear to you before we move on to the points I mentioned. I’ve mentioned a sickly colon and “leaky gut syndrome in other articles.

The leaky gut syndrome is better understood when you realize that these dangerous toxins that  should stay in the colon and be pushed out are leaking into your bloodstream.

This causes (I’m keeping this simple for you) your blood acidity to rise. Owing to its location on the chemistry periodic table, the higher blood acidity makes it nearly impossible for your thyroid to absorb Iodine.

As blood acidity rises it becomes difficult and finally impossible for the thyroid to absorb iodine. The thyroid produces thyroxin and works in concert with the Adrenal glands producing adrenalin and other hormones from the adrenal cortex.

These are tied to responses going back to the Pituitary Gland, the master producer of growth hormone and many other hormones.

The results of decreased thyroid activity or “hypo-thyroidism” is a gain in weight, feeling depressed, sickly, cold, sexless (no desire), just a sort of malaise, tiredness, no interest in much of anything, and might include some “brain fog” – a feeling like you can’t think clearly.

Cleansing the colon will allow blood acidity to return to normal, after a little while the other functions restore, the patient loses weight, feels better, looks better, and is happy to be alive again!

The Adrenal Glands

The human body has two adrenal glands and one sits on top of each kidney. Each adrenal gland weighs 4–5 g in an adult. Adrenals are first detected at 6 weeks’ gestation

Each adrenal gland is composed of two distinct parts: the outer part called the adrenal cortex and the inner adrenal medulla. The adrenal glands secrete different hormones which act as ‘chemical messengers’. These hormones travel in the bloodstream and act on various body tissues to enable them to function correctly. All adrenocortical hormones are steroid compounds made from cholesterol.

What hormones do my adrenal glands produce?

The adrenal cortex produces three hormones:

  1. Mineralocorticoids: the most important of which is aldosterone. This hormone helps to maintain the body’s salt and water levels which, in turn, regulates blood pressure. Without aldosterone, the kidney loses excessive amounts of salt (sodium) and, consequently, water, leading to severe dehydration and low blood pressure.

  2. Glucocorticoids: predominantly cortisol. This hormone is involved in the response to illness and also helps to regulate body metabolism. Cortisol stimulates glucose production helping the body to free up the necessary ingredients from storage (fat and muscle) to make glucose. Cortisol also has significant anti-inflammatory effects.

  3. Adrenal androgens: male sex hormones mainly dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA) and testosterone. All have weak effects, but play a role in early development of the male sex organs in childhood, and female body hair during puberty.

Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), secreted by the anterior pituitary gland, primarily affects release of glucocorticoids and adrenal androgens by the adrenal gland and, to a much lesser extent, also stimulates aldosterone release.

The adrenal medulla produces catecholamines:

Catecholamines include adrenaline, noradrenaline and small amounts of dopamine – these hormones are responsible for all the physiological  characteristics of the stress response, the so called ‘fight or flight’ response.

The Adrenal hormones are therefore related to signals received by the Pituitary Gland, Overies, Testes, Testosterone, growth hormone and weight loss, with strengthening of muscle. There is a feed back loop affect. To have a healthy body and a healthy mind, you must have a healthy digestive system!

So…. starting with #1. Your body is not simply a carbon-oxygen machine that gets fat because of Calories. What is important is what your body does with those Calories. Calories are little energy packets, usually in the form of fats, oils and sugars. Calories from refined carbohydrate are stored as fats because they did not arrive in the digestive system and the bloodstream with the vitamins and minerals needed to put them to use. And … because you got more of them than you need. The oil droplet is stored in a fat cell.
2. Your body is designed/inclined to save/store that energy for a future time of starvation, or a time when you’ll be farming, running, traveling on foot, hunting with no food but the leaves, nuts, fruits and berries around you. You have lived that way many years haven’t you?

NO?!?!?!?

Oh, so then you’re a modern person who rides in the car to the super market, you bring home what looks good and maybe those coffee cakes in the morning aren’t so good for you after all. Maybe that alcoholic beverage you enjoy at night isn’t such a great idea either.

Why do people have diabetes and why are most diabetics fat people? The weight and the diabetes are related, that’s why. The Diabetic has been eating those refined carbohydrate foods (white rice, white flour, white sugar, beer and liquors) for years and he finally caused so much liver damage by doing so, now he has hormone (insulin) imbalance problems.

We can go deeper into the science but I’m guessing you don’t want to hear it. You know now that you should avoid the sweets stuff and teach yourself to eat the naturally healthy stuff, and my booklet has a list of what to eat and what to avoid. It’s free. Just download it as an Adobe PDF file and enjoy it. If you don’t have Adobe before you download it you find I have added a link so you can get it free and use it any time. It’s rare to find a computer these days that can’t read a PDF file!

For examples; you can eat 800 calories of white flour, sugar, mayonnaise, special sauce, cheese, and a little not very flavorful beef patty with deep fried oily salty French fries and call that dinner. Then sit watching TV for 4 hours while chasing that ” dinner with mixed drinks, and your body has to do something with it.

OR, You could eat a bit of baked fish, chicken, lamb, or beef with steamed vegetables, flavored with herbs, a little coffee or tea and you’ll feel better, take a walk in a safe place, or go to a gym and join a bunch of friends doing dance exercises, and begin to lose weight without trying. You’ll gently get thinner, feel good, and you’ll reduce your chances of developing blood sugar imbalance problems too. (Hypoglycemia = not enough blood sugar, and Diabetes = too much blood sugar ; are sort of like cousins. Not the same but related.)

And we got sick this way because Mom didn’t know any better and was feeding us sugar sweetened baby food from jars right from our start! Of course your brain now accepts sweet as ” good and ” real food tastes ” as ” not good “.

It will take a little while to change that orientation, but if you want to live well and feel well, you’ll have to take that path and teach yourself to enjoy good food the way The Good Lord gave it to us.

The best chefs in fine restaurants are not serving sugar sweetened ” fake foods! ” They are well studied in good nutrition and they find ways to make real food taste delicious.

There are many recipes on line to help us. Visit here : https://www.foodnetwork.com/healthy and make your own delicious discoveries. I’m not earning any money sending you there. I’m just helping you find an easy route to good, healthy eating.

#3 About Exercise : These days we have more fitness teachers than ever. A few years ago no one had ever heard the phrase ” personal trainer ” and now young people finish serious study and make their living teaching us to be fit, sculpt our bodies for special work or to make a more attractive physique or figure, and the list goes on and on. You can do well with a brisk walk about 40 minutes. Join others at a shopping mall in the early morning or a park where many people go together.

If you haven’t been walking for a long time try 10-minutes to start and do more as your body gets more fit and accustomed to it.

When you’re inclined to do more, go to this address : https://www.verywellfit.com/20-minute-senior-weight-training-workout-3498676 and learn just one or two exercises. Then expand to add two more, and so on. And … this can be quickly adapted for younger more athletic people too.

There are so many teachers on line and at YouTube these days, you could be watching and learning like this forever. Find one routine and learn it by doing it several days, then move to a new routine, and continue rotating them so you use all the muscle groups well. Ask at the local gym about Zumba dance groups and get involved with dance and fun with others. Any exercise is better than none!

4. The process of weight reduction and improved fitness should be caused by a change to a lifestyle you enjoy and will therefore naturally continue. If you hate it you won’t do it. If you love the food and love the fun with friends walking or Zumba dancing or weight lifting, you’ll continue it.

Now … .I’m asking you to be a logical thinker here. I had a girlfriend who in junior high school was afraid of the balance beam. She was forced to go up onto it by the gym teacher. She fell and hurt herself and never did any exercise ever again! That one incident is her central thought every time she hears the word ” exercise. That is emotional thinking, not logical thinking.

There are many things you can do for ” exercise including
• boat rowing, canoe paddling
• swimming,
• playing tennis,
• walking, hiking,
• martial arts,
• stretching related to yoga or tai chi,
• crawling on the floor cleaning your house,
• dancing classes —

— and ALL of it is ” exercise and it’s healthy and good for You’ll. You feel and look better and have fewer little fights with illness every year.

Life style change means (to me) eat right, avoid drinking alcohol, quit smoking and drug use, get some exercise, fresh air, sunshine, and also includes what you focus your mind upon. If you’re not a Bible student you’re invited to snoop around HERE and maybe for you this will be the most important discovery. Does Bible study related to modern life and thinking? Does it make any sense in our modern scientific world? Yes it does and articles at that address prove my viewpoint and explain particularly to the scientific, university trained mind why Bible lessons and related articles are more important now than ever in human history.

Stop pouring TV related mindless slime into your mind and get into the information your designer intended for you to learn.

I never forget a woman calling a priest on radio in New York City, shouting at him, ” I don’t see why this is going to help me. ” That’s right! She won’t see until she looks!
If you have the COURAGE to read, look, listen, and accept that perhaps your lifestyle has been guided by bad people who want to guide you wrong, you’ll discover a much better and happier lifestyle, and a healthier body too.

5. Digestive System Health : As part of your overall health picture you must get serious about improving the health of your digestive system. If you are inclined to learn more about this GO HERE and then follow the route to products that will help you get health and cause pounds to melt away easily and painlessly.

I promise – you’ll feel and look a lot better doing this, and you’ll reduce your future health-care expenses so much the products you buy will save you money rather than cost you money! Nutritional Supplements and weight reduction healthy products are cheap! Doctor and hospital visits are VERY much more expensive. Take the healthy route. You, and those who care about you, will be happy you made that wise decision.

The Best Cold Medicine  https://www.reviews.com/cold-medicine

The best cold medicine offers relief for your worst symptom without bogging you down in side-effects. To find out which drugs do this best, we talked to doctors and pharmacists about how colds affect the body and how different drugs help. Their recommendations were unanimous: Go after the symptom that’s ailing you most, rather than seeking relief from an underpowered multi-symptom formula.

How We Chose the Best Cold Medicine

Expert consultation

Initially, we compiled a list of more than 450 tablets, liquids, capsules, and sprays from the websites of CVS, Walgreens, Walmart and Rite Aid. But as we researched their active ingredients, we realized that the vast majority of over-the-counter cold meds are some combination of the same few drugs. So we turned to experts — two doctors and two pharmacists — to help us understand which ones are most effective, which should be taken with caution, and whether there’s any real difference between brand names and generic formulas.

Our experts confirmed despite the profusion of boxes, bottles and packets, you’ll find the same handful of active ingredients, in the same amounts, in all of them — no matter what the price, so buy generic names and save money. We carry several generic products in an effort to help you have what you need at affordable prices.

Certain symptoms, such as cough, have only one over-the-counter drug generally regarded to be effective. But others, such as sinus pressure, have more. In those cases, we deferred to the feedback we got from our four experts. Their answers reinforced some of our assumptions, but surprised us in other ways.

Single-symptom formula

When your cold is bad enough to require treatment, it can be tempting to use a multi-symptom formula designed to combat all the “typical” discomforts, whether you have them or not. But our experts actually recommended targeting only your worst symptom or symptoms — the ones that are making it impossible to get through the day.

“It’s best to minimize the medications you take to treat cold symptoms. Use the smallest amount for the shortest time frame possible.”

Dr. Lili Lustig, Family Medicine Physician Cleveland Clinic

So we turned to experts — two doctors and two pharmacists — to help us understand which ones are most effective, which should be taken with caution, and whether there’s any real difference between brand names and generic formulas.

Our experts confirmed what we’d always suspected: There’s really no difference except for price (generic is usually cheaper). The US Food and Drug Administration has strict rules governing the manufacture of over-the-counter meds, so despite the profusion of boxes, bottles and packets in the cold aisle, you’ll find the same handful of active ingredients, in the same amounts, in all of them — no matter what the price. Buying on line FROM HERE keeps you safer at home, and reduces your expenses. You spend less for shipping than for driving and less for the price because we don’t pay to keep big stores open. Certain symptoms, such as cough, have only one over-the-counter drug generally regarded to be effective. But others, such as sinus pressure, have more. In those cases, we deferred to the feedback we got from our four experts. Their answers reinforced some of our assumptions, but surprised us in other ways.

It’s best to stay consistent with the doctrine of “fewer drugs is better,” because certain ingredients can actually work against your recovery by dehydrating you further. There’s no extra benefit to a multi-symptom med if you don’t need relief from all its listed symptoms.

And even if you are suffering from multiple symptoms, multisymptom formulas aren’t the solution they seem to be. Multisymptom cold medicines are basically the same as taking a regular strength Tylenol (acetaminophen) with a light dose of cough suppressant and either a nasal decongestant or antihistamine (in the case of the nighttime formula). For example, DayQuil only contains a third of the cough suppressant you’d get from one Mucinex DM. So if you’re really suffering from the symptoms they target, you’re probably better off with a full dose from one of the other products on this list.

Decongestants

NASAL ALLERGY TREATMENTS

When allergies make your nose stuffed up, an antihistamine generally doesn’t help. But a decongestant might.

Here’s how decongestants work: Allergies make the lining of your nose swell. Decongestants shrink swollen blood vessels and tissues. That relieves the congestion. But decongestants can’t help with sneezing or itching.

Decongestants come in pills, liquids, nose drops, and nasal sprays. Many are available without a prescription. Common decongestants include:

Some over-the-counter decongestants — those with pseudoephedrine — are found behind the pharmacy counter.

Many medicines combine an antihistamine and decongestant, like Allegra-D, Benadryl Allergy Plus SinusClaritin-D, and Zyrtec-D.

Don’t use nasal sprays longer than three days. Using them longer can actually make your nose more stopped up.

Ask your doctor before taking decongestants if you have:

Decongestants make some people feel jittery or have trouble sleeping. If that happens, cut back on caffeine while taking them. If that doesn’t help, you may need to stop taking them. Nasal sprays are less likely to cause these problems and may be a short-term solution.

Colds and Flu: Symptoms, Treatment, Prevention, When to Call: Management and Treatment

Can colds and the flu be “cured” with medications?

No medicines can “cure” colds and flu. However, there are many over-the-counter (OTC) medicines that can ease the discomfort caused by the symptoms of colds and flu. In addition, there are prescription medicines and a vaccine that can treat and prevent the flu.

Note on antibiotics: Colds and the flu are causes by viruses and cannot be cured with antibiotics. Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, such as strep throat and ear, skin, and urinary tract infections. Using antibiotics for infections they are not able to treat makes the antibiotics less effective for infections they are supposed to treat (a situation called antibiotic resistance). Never take antibiotics to treat colds and flu.

To ease the discomfort from specific cold and flu symptoms, consider using the following types of OTC medicines:

  • To reduce fever and pain — analgesics: Acetaminophen (Tylenol®) is generally preferred. Ibuprofen (Advil®) or naproxen (Naprosyn®) is also commonly used. Aspirin should be avoided due to its risk of developing Reye’s syndrome. (Reye’s syndrome is a condition that affects all body organs and is most harmful to the brain and liver.) Note on acetaminophen: Read all cold medicine package labels. Do not take more than one drug that contains acetaminophen. Taking too much acetaminophen can damage your liver. Acetaminophen doses should not exceed 4 grams per day. Individuals with liver damage or liver problems should not exceed 2 grams of acetaminophen per day.
  • To dry out the nose — antihistamines: Try an antihistamine, such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl®). Because these products can make you sleepy, avoid driving and other complex tasks while taking these medicines. Loratadine (Claritin®), available (OTC), is a non-drowsy alternative, but may not be as effective as other antihistamines for reducing cold and flu symptoms. Other OTC antihistamines include Allegra®, Zyrtec®, and Xyzal®.
  • To relieve a stuffy, clogged nose — decongestants: Try an oral decongestant, such as pseudoephedrine (Sudafed®). However, insomnia, nervousness, and irritability can occur when taking these drugs. Those who are pregnant or have uncontrolled high blood pressure should avoid pseudoephedrine products. Often decongestants are combined with other drugs (especially antihistamines) in OTC medicines. A “-D” at the end of a medicine’s name means it includes an oral decongestant.
  • To relieve a runny nose or sinus pressure — nasal steroids: Medications like fluticasone (Flonase®, available without a prescription) or mometasone (Nasonex®; prescription needed) can relieve symptoms. These medicines are also used for seasonal allergies. These are not the same as Afrin® or other OTC nasal preparations. Antihistamines will also help.
  • To make blowing your nose easier or loosening cough/mucus production — expectorants: Try guaifenesin (Robitussin®, Mucofen®, Humibid LA®, Mucinex®, Humibid E®). These products help thin the thick, discolored drainage coming out of the nose and mouth.
  • To reduce coughing — antitussives: Dextromethorphan can help suppress cough.
  • To relieve a sore throat: Try throat lozenges (such as Cepacol®) or gargle with warm salt water a few times a day. Analgesics are also helpful.
  • For other symptoms: OTC cold products (for example, Nyquil® or Tylenol Cold & Sinus®) can provide much relief. Be sure to read product labels to find the best cold preparation to match your symptoms and to determine if that medicine is safe for you.

What are other ways to treat and prevent the flu?

Antiviral prescription medicines and an annual flu vaccine are available for treating and preventing the flu.

Prescription anti-flu medicines include amantadine (Symmetrel®), rimantadine (Flumadine®), zanamivir (Relenza®), and oseltamivir (Tamiflu®). These drugs do not cure the flu, but they can make the symptoms milder and make you feel better more quickly. They are only effective when used in the first 48 hours of flu-like symptoms.

These drugs are not needed for healthy people who get the flu. They are usually reserved for people who are very sick with the flu (for example, those who have been hospitalized) or those who are at risk of complications from the flu, such as people with long-term chronic medical conditions (such as diabetes or chronic obstructive lung disease, asthma) or older age.

Flu vaccine (by shot and nasal spray). Although there is currently no vaccine against the common cold, there is a vaccine to prevent the flu. The vaccine is available by both shot and nasal spray. It works by exposing the immune system to the viruses. The body responds by building antibodies (the body’s defense system) against the flu. The flu shot contains dead flu viruses. The nasal spray contains live, but weakened, flu viruses. The nasal spray is only approved for healthy children and adults 2 to 49 years old and who are not pregnant.

How to Choose Over-the-Counter Cold and Flu Meds

Most cold and flu drugs attack symptoms, not the specific viruses that cause the illnesses. They aren’t a cure, but they can make you feel better or shorten your illness.

There’s no one right way to treat a cold or the flu. But here are some questions you can ask your pharmacist to get the correct over-the-counter medication for you.

1. Should I take a decongestant or an antihistamine?

This depends on your symptoms. If you have nasal or sinus congestion, then a decongestant can help. If you have drainage — either a runny nose or postnasal dripor itchy, watery eyes — then an antihistamine could work.

Over-the-counter antihistamines could make you drowsy. Decongestants might make you hyperactive or keep your awake. Antihistamines can thicken mucus, which can be a problem for people with asthma.

Both of these medications may mix poorly with other drugs, like those that treat heart disease, and they may worsen some conditions, like high blood pressure. They might affect you emotionally for a  little while too.

2. Is it safe to take a decongestant if I have high blood pressure?

This type of medicine can increase blood pressure and heart rate, and raise the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Pseudoephedrine is the main decongestant taken by mouth that’s available. In general, if your blood pressure is well controlled with medications, then a decongestant shouldn’t be a problem as long as you closely watch your BP. This may not be true with certain types of blood pressure drugs, so check with your doctor or pharmacist about what may be best for you.

3. How often should I use nasal spray?

Nasal decongestants work fast to open your airways. But if you use them for more than 3 days in a row, you may end up more stuffy than you were at the start.

Some doctors suggest using a saline spray instead of a medicated spray. It may take longer to work, but you won’t have problems down the line.

4. What’s the deal with cough medicine?

An occasional cough clears the gunk from your lungs. But one that goes on and on needs treatment.

On the shelf you’ll find tons of cough medicines with many combinations of decongestants, antihistamines, analgesics/antipyretics, cough suppressants, and expectorants. Use what you know you have had good experience using before, or if you’re uncertain, ask your pharmacist for advice.

5. What should I take for fever and aches?

A fever can be a good thing. It kick-starts your immune system and helps your body fight off an infection by torching bacteria and viruses.

“The higher temperature should NOT be suppressed. It speeds up development of white blood cells, kills many viruses and bacteria, and is necessary to finally end the illness. There is NO evidence that a high temperature does any sort of organ or brain damage. Those ideas are old rumors with no science to support them. Even going to a temperature of as high as 105 or 107F may cause a feeling of fire in your chest. Convulsions will follow for a moment, maybe a fainting away. After that the temperature will fall rapidly and recovery is swift. I learned this in 1978, and while living in the tropics experienced it twice. It was a nasty experience for a few minutes but it reduced the recovery time by several days, so I would certainly do it again.” (Dr. Newdell)

Doctors no longer suggest you try to lower it, except for people who are very young or old, and those with certain medical conditions such as heart disease or lung disease. If you’re uncomfortable, though, it’s alright to take a fever-reducer medication.

Young people, including those in their early 20s, should avoid aspirin. Medicines with acetaminophen and ibuprofen are best. Each type has its own set of risks, so talk to your doctor or pharmacist about which is best for you.

Be careful not to overdose. These drugs are often mixed in with cough and cold and flu remedies. Read the labels, and don’t take a separate pain remedy if your cough or cold medicine includes one. If you’re not sure what’s in it, talk to your pharmacist before you take it.

6. What’s best for my sore throat?

Drink lots of fluids, and use a salt-water gargle for relief. To make it, mix a cup of warm water and a teaspoon of salt. Some medications you take by mouth like acetaminophen, medicated lozenges, and gargles can also temporarily soothe a sore throat.

Get your doctor’s OK before you take anything, even over-the-counter drugs. Don’t use lozenges or gargles for more than a few days. The drugs could mask signs of strep throat, a bacterial infection that should be treated with antibiotics.

Flu Treatment With Antiviral Drugs

Antiviral drugs are prescription medications that may help prevent flu complications or shorten the severity and duration of flu once you have it. Here are the latest antiviral drug recommendations. After you read this, talk to your doctor to see if antiviral drugs can help you feel better.

What Are Antiviral Drugs?

Antiviral drugs are medicines that decrease the ability of flu viruses to reproduce. When used as directed, antiviral drugs may help reduce the duration of flu symptoms in otherwise healthy children and adults and may reduce the severity of common flu symptoms.

When Are Antiviral Drugs Recommended?

Antiviral drugs are recommended for both treatment and prevention of flu. Antiviral drugs work best when taken within 48 hours of onset of flu symptoms, but they may still offer benefits when taken later. These medications may reduce the duration of flu by one to two days and prevent severe flu complications.

How Are Antivirals Used in Preventing Flu?

Your doctor may prescribe an antiviral if you come in close contact with family members or others who have the flu and you want to try to avoid getting sick. However, the CDC discourages this as a routine practice, as it can lead to drug-resistant strains of the virus. Instead, the CDC recommends that people at risk of severe flu — such as pregnant women or people with asthmadiabetes, or heart disease — begin antiviral treatment as soon as flu symptoms appear. Others at high risk for complications from the flu include infants, the elderly, those with chronic illness, Native Americans and Alaskan Natives

Which Antiviral Drugs Are Recommended for Both Treatment and Prevention of the Flu?

The CDC recommends the antiviral drugs baloxavir marboxil (Xofluza), oseltamivir (Tamiflu), and zanamivir (Relenza) for both flu prevention and treatment..

Baloxavir marboxil is taken orally and is approved for use in treatment of children 12 years of age and older.

Oseltamivir, which is taken by mouth, is approved for treating flu in those over 2 weeks of age and preventing flu in people one year of age and older.

Peramivir, given in one intravenous dose, is approved for people over the age of 2 for treatment only.

Zanamivir is approved for treating flu in people 7 years and older and for preventing flu in people 5 years and older. Relenza is inhaled through the mouth.

All four antivirals are most effective when given within 48 hours of the onset of flu symptoms, although they may still prevent severe flu complications when given more than 48 hours after symptoms appear.

For in-depth information, see WebMD’s Flu Prevention Strategies.

Do Antiviral Drugs for Flu Have Side Effects?

Side effects of antivirals may include nauseavomitingrunny nose, stuffy nose, coughdiarrhea, and behavioral changes. Zanamivir is not recommended for individuals who have asthmachronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or other lung disease. Based on your individual health status, your doctor will prescribe the antiviral drug that’s safest for you.

When Do I Call the Doctor About Flu Antiviral Drugs?

Ideally, you should talk to your doctor about the flu vaccine and antiviral drugs, including side effects, before the flu season begins.

When you do get flu symptoms, it’s important to call your doctor soon after symptoms appear. Flu drugs are most effective when taken within the first 48 hours of flu symptoms, although they may help prevent severe disease when taken later.

Update March 26, 2019

Stuffy nose: Look for decongestant pills that contain phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine. Decongestants help a stuffy nose by shrinking swollen nasal passages that cause congestion. You can also try decongestant nose drops or sprays, but you should not use these products for more than 3 days. Saline (saltwater) nose sprays or rinses can also help relieve congestion and break up mucus. These sprays are safe to use as often as you want.

Headache or body aches: Choose a pain reliever that contains acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen. If you take one of these, look at any other medicines you’re taking to make sure they don’t contain the same drug. Many cold and flu treatments have the same ingredients.

Fever: Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen can ease your fever, which may help you feel better.

Cough: There are two types of over-the-counter cough medicines: expectorants and cough suppressants. Expectorants, like guaifenesin, help thin mucus so you can cough it up more easily. Cough suppressants, such as dextromethorphan, help control cough. You can buy these medicines separately or combined. Ask your doctor or pharmacist which is best for your cough. Cough drops and throat lozenges can also reduce your urge to cough.

Sore throat: Use throat lozenges or cough drops to soothe your sore throat. Or try a pain reliever, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen.

Children’s Note: Don’t give over-the-counter cold and flu medicines to children under 4. For children ages 4-6, only give them if a doctor recommends it. Read the label so you can match the symptoms to the right medicine. Make sure you use the right medicine and the right dose for your child’s age and weight.

With a little time and care, you’ll most likely feel better within a week to 10 days. But if your symptoms are severe, get worse, or aren’t getting better after 7 days, call your doctor.

Tough decisions are the last thing you want to face when a cold hits you full force, yet any veteran of the cold medication aisle in the pharmacy can tell you the choices are overwhelming.

“It’s very confusing because there are so many different products. People simply have to read labels. I tell people, especially older folks, to bring your magnifying glass with you because the print is so small,” says Richard Streiffer, MD, dean of the college of community health sciences at The University of Alabama. While you’re squinting at the cold medication label, pay close attention to the doses recommended for different age groups.

Follow these steps for making sense of over-the-counter cold medicine:

  • Know your symptoms. It’s important to identify your symptoms so you can choose the proper medications with the right ingredients to address each of them. For example, if you’ve got congestion, cough, and itchy watery eyes, take a decongestant, a cough suppressant, and an antihistamine, then drop each one as the symptoms fade. If you only have a few symptoms, combination medicines that cover what troubles you can offer relief.
  • Be careful not to take two medications with the same ingredients. This is especially true for acetaminophen. This common fever reducer and pain reliever can be found in variety of cold medications, but taking too much of it increases the risk of liver damage.
  • Learn about cough and cold ingredients.Know which active ingredients relieve the various cold symptoms by reading the “cold medication by symptom” guide below.

Cold Medication by Symptom: Cough

  • Cough suppressants. Also called antitussives, these medications actually stop you from coughing. Look for dextromethorphan (Robitussin Maximum Strength, Vicks 44 Cough Relief).
  • This category of cold medication thins mucus, so rather than stopping your cough, your cough will sound wet or be more “productive.” Look for the ingredient guaifenesin (Mucinex DM, Robitussin).

If you have a nasty cough, cold medications that include antihistamines and decongestants can help, but keep in mind that they may dry you out and make it harder to clear the cough.

Cold Medication by Symptom: Fever, Sore Throat, and Aches and Pains

  • This is generally marketed as Tylenol and is a good option for headaches and other aches and pains.
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).This category of cold medication works by cutting down on inflammation in your body and includes aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen (Aleve).

Some products, such as Excedrin, contain both acetaminophen and NSAIDs.

Cold Medication by Symptom: Sneezing, Runny Nose, and Itchy, Watery Eyes

Antihistamines. If you’re suffering from sniffling, sneezing, itchy, watery eyes, and/or a runny nose, a product with an antihistamine is your best bet. These treat allergy symptoms as well as cold symptoms. Look for:

  • Brompheniramine (Dimetapp Cold and Allergy Elixir, Robitussin Cold & Allergy)
  • Chlorpheniramine (Singlet)
  • Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine)
  • Diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Nytol)
  • Doxylamine (NyQuil, Alka-Seltzer Plus Night Time Cold Medicine)

Cold Medication by Symptom: Congestion

Decongestants. These medications reduce the swelling of tissues in your nose, making breathing easier. Look for:

  • Pseudoephedrine (Contac Non-drowsy, Sudafed) — in some states you will have to show your driver’s license to the pharmacist in order to get medications containing this ingredient
  • Phenylephrine (Sudafed PE)

If you prefer to buy in a drugstore, talk to the pharmacist. With a little information about ingredients, you may be able to get better symptom relief during cold season this year. Last Updated:2/13/2013

The Most Effective OTC Birth Control and STD Prevention Methods

The Most Effective OTC Birth Control and STD Prevention Methods

When it comes to birth control products, some are more effective than others. This is especially the case with over-the-counter (OTC) methods. For example, the effectiveness of condoms against pregnancy is higher than the effectiveness of spermicides. Plus, to be most effective, OTC birth control needs to be used correctly every time you have sex. So even though condoms can be an effective way to prevent against pregnancy, if the man refuses to wear condoms, or he does not properly install it, the condom losses some of its effectiveness.

When we talk about the effectiveness of any kind of birth control (including condoms and other OTC methods), we look at perfect user rates as well as typical user rates.

  • Perfect use refers to the effectiveness of a birth control method when it is used consistently (meaning, every time you have sex) and always used correctly.
  • Typical user rates usually apply to the average person. These tell us how effective a birth control method is when it may not always be used, or if it is used, it may not be used correctly. These rates tend to be the ones we pay attention to because, the truth is, it can be difficult to always and reliably use birth control the correct way.

One last piece of information to keep in mind, both perfect rates and typical rates are based on looking at 100 couples who use that OTC birth control method for one year and determining how many will become pregnant within a year. This is where things can become tricky, so I will try to break this down for you:

  1. No one method is 100% effective in perfect or typical use over time (except for abstinence).
  2. These effectiveness rates are based on using a birth control method for one year. They don’t take into account how often during that year you are having sex. For example, in typical use, the effectiveness of condoms against pregnancy is 82%. This is the case whether this is your first time having sex or your 300th time. This does not mean that if you have sex 100 times, that you will get pregnant on your 82nd time (or any time after that). It also does not mean that you have an 82% chance of not getting pregnant.
  3. It also doesn’t mean that condoms can’t be 100% effective. When you look at a single time that you had sex, you either became pregnant or you didn’t (after all, you can’t be 15% pregnant!). If you used a condom for contraception when you had sex that time, and you did not become pregnant, you can say that the effectiveness of that condom against pregnancy was 100%.

How Effective are OTC Birth Control Methods?

You can buy OTC birth control at the store or online without a doctor’s prescription. These methods typically act as a barrier to keep sperm from joining and fertilizing an egg cell/ovum.

Condoms (Male):

Male condoms are made of latexpolyurethanepolyisoprene, or natural membrane. One of the things that factor into the effectiveness of condoms is that you are using the correct size condom. Condoms do not typically break or have holes and are one of the only birth control methods that are also effective at preventing sexually transmitted infections. (STIs) also known as Sexually Transmissible or Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

  • Perfect use: male condoms are 98% effective.
  • Typical use: male condoms are 82% effective.
  • This means that out of every 100 women whose partners use condoms for one year, 2 will become pregnant (with perfect use) and 18 will become pregnant (with typical use).

Female Condoms:

female condom is sort of like a pre-lubricated pouch and is made from polyurethane or synthetic latex. Like male condoms, female condoms can also offer you protection from sexually transmitted infections. To make sure that it is most effective, you may want to practice inserting the female condom a couple of times before having sex. Use a new female condom for each act of sexual intercourse and never use a female condom with a male condom, because they rub together and the friction will destroy them.

  • Perfect use: female condoms are 95% effective.
  • Typical use: female condoms are 79% effective.
  • This means that out of every 100 women who use female condoms for one year, 5 will become pregnant (with perfect use) and 21 will become pregnant (with typical use).

Obviously this is not a perfect answer, but it’s the best we have. If you want better take the birth control pill or another type under the skin implant AND Also use a condom.

There are only 386 listed medications for birth control! You should visit your medical doctor for a prescription.

Spermicide:

Spermicide kill sperm. It can come in many forms and tends to be more effective when used with an additional birth control method, like a condom or a diaphragm.

  • Perfect use: spermicide is 82% effective.
  • Typical use: spermicide is 72% effective.
  • This means that out of every 100 women who use foam, cream, jelly, film, or suppository spermicide for one year, 18 will become pregnant (with perfect use) and 28 will become pregnant (with typical use).

These references will help.

  1. Condoms and Contraception
  2. Types of contraception

Male Condoms

Male condoms are an excellent form of contraception and prevent most types of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancy.

The male condom is a thin sheath that covers the erect penis and works by stopping sexual fluids from passing between people during sexual activity. They are made from latex or polyurethane. If condoms are used properly, they are 98% effective in preventing STIs and unplanned pregnancy.

Condoms should always be used with a water-based lubricant, on the outside of the condom. Use lots of lubricant, especially if you intend to engage in anal sex. Do not use oil-based lubricants, like Vaseline or baby oil, as they weaken the condom. Don’t use saliva either, as it dries too quickly and may contain bacteria that can cause infections.

Advantages

  • Condoms don’t cost much, are small, and are easy to carry.
  • You don’t have to see a doctor to get a condom, you can easily buy them here or at a drug store.
  • Condoms offer good protection against STIs and unplanned pregnancy, if used properly.

The disadvantage of condoms is that they don’t protect you from all STIs, such as herpes, genital warts and syphilis which can be spread from skin-to-skin contact. For example if his testicular skin has these viruses on the skin there, the virus can be spread to the man’s lover.

Condoms cost roughly $1 each over the counter. We shop carefully to sell them in larger quantities for less. See Prices and Products HERE>>>

Understanding Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention

To prevent getting a sexually transmitted disease, or STD, always avoid sex with anyone who has genital sores, a rash, discharge, or other symptoms. The only time unprotected sex is safe is if you and your partner have sex only with each other, and if it’s been at least six months since you each tested negative for STDs. Otherwise you should:

  • Use latex condoms every time you have sex. If you use a lubricant, make sure it’s water-based. Use condoms for the entire sex act. Condoms are not 100% effective at preventing disease or pregnancy. However, they are extremely effective if used properly. Learn how to use condoms correctly.
  • Avoid sharing towels or underclothing.
  • Wash before and after intercourse.
  • Get a vaccination for hepatitis B. This is a series of three shots.
  • Get tested for HIV.
  • If you have a problem with drug or alcohol abuse, get help. People who are drunk or on drugs often fail to have safe sex.
  • Avoiding sex-play is the only sure way to prevent STDs.

It was once thought that using condoms with nonoxynol-9 helped to prevent STDs by killing the organisms that can cause disease. New research shows that doing so also irritates a woman’s vagina and cervixand may increase the risk of an STD infection. Consequently, current recommendations are to avoid using condoms with nonoxynol-9.

What you should and should NOT do after sex to help prevent STD infection.

Wash Up

You don’t have to hop out of bed and into the shower right away. But gently cleaning yourself after sex can protect men and women from infections of the urinary tract (UTIs). Wash the area around (not inside) your genitals with plain warm water. You can try mild soaps, but if you have sensitive skin or you already have an infection, they might dry out or irritate the area. Uncircumcised men (with foreskin) should gently pull it back and wash underneath.

Don’t Douche

Some women think they need to clean inside their vagina after sex with water or prepackaged fluids. But douching can lead to more infections. That’s because it upsets the natural balance of bacteria that protect your vagina. The best way to take care of your vagina after sex is to leave it alone — it cleans itself naturally. Also, keep in mind that a mild smell is normal and may not be a sign of a problem.

Keep Clean-up Simple

Along with douches, drug stores offer lots of wipes, creams, and sprays that claim to help you “freshen up” your personal areas. Some of them are made with harsh soaps, detergents, shampoos, perfumes, or lotions that can make your skin break out. Just stick to a gentle rinse with warm water after sex. And avoid scented tampons, pads, powders, and sprays, especially if you tend to get infections.

Go and Pee

During sex, bacteria can get into your urethra, the tube that carries urine out of your body. That can raise your chances of an infection. When you pee, you flush those germs out. So enjoy some cuddle time with your partner, then go to the bathroom. Women, when you wipe, do it from front to back to stop the spread of bacteria from the anus into the vagina and under the clitoral hood.

Drink a Glass of Water

Since it’s a good idea to pee after sex-play, keep water by the bed. Drink some before you get started playing. When you stay hydrated, you’ll pee more, which means that more bacteria will wash out of your body before infections can flare up.

Wear Loose-Fitting Clothing

Hot, sweaty places are the perfect spots for bacteria and yeast to thrive. So wear underwear and clothes that let air in. Women should avoid pantyhose, girdles, and panties that are too tight. Cotton undies work well for men and women — they’re breathable and absorb moisture. Skip underwear altogether when you go to bed. Instead wear pajama bottoms or sweat slacks.

Wash Your Hands

It’s the best way to get rid of bacteria you might pick up from touching your, or your partner’s genitals. That’s key to stop infections from spreading. Wash with soap and water, and make it part of your post-sex clean-up routine. Modern handwashing methods require you wash and RUB the skin together for at least a minute, especially pay attention to fingertips and the palms. Stretch the fingers as wide as you can and really rub into your palms and between your fingers to reach skin that folds when your hands are relaxed.

Clean Your Sex Toys

After you’re done with them, bacteria, viruses, and fungi can hang around. That means your toys could spread STDs and other infections. Clean each toy after every use — check the packaging for cleaning instructions. It’s better not to share toys with others — that can send germs back and forth. If you do plan to share, try to cover the toy with a new condom each time you use it.

I don’t mean to gross you out, but while I’m editing this I want to add a few other notes no one else does. I’m actually shocked at how many people have no idea about how their body works, how to be good lovers, how to do massage, how to keep clean and healthy. Just shocking!

Lots of people watch XXX Videos and do as they see, which is generally a very stupid idea. Those porno-slobs do as their studio directors tell them and display terrible sexual techniques. They get their mouth onto anything, and mix with several other complete strangers regularly. They sometimes do anal sex and then oral sex and then vaginal sex with one or more strangers. (So I’m told. I don’t watch.)

That sort of behavior is just asking for serious illness. Your mouth is full of bacteria. If you love oral sex at least use mouthwash before you go to bed. After you decide you’ve had enough of that, use a wash cloth and warm water with a little mouth wash mixed into it. You can keep a bowl of this beside your bed on a night stand or shelves. You don’t have to make a big announcement and drama out of it. Just dip and squeeze the cloth, smile and wash him, dip the cloth, squeeze it out and wash yourself and then put make sure he’s wearing a condom, or put it on him yourself, cover it and yourself with a good water based, or silicone based sex lube, then choose s position and get connected.

Never mix anal sex with anything else. It’s unnatural, can spread some very serious diseases, and it’s really best if you simply do not do it. From what I hear, natural penis in vagina sex feels immensely better than anal sex, so why do it?

Stop going to bed with cute strangers.

Lots of people pick up good looking young strangers every weekend and they’re just asking for sickness. Many of the large variety of STDs are NOT curable and can cause serious misery for years until they kill you!  It’s time to make the decision (yeah, right now) to settle with one lover and the two of you stay faithful to one another.  The very best way to avoid STD transmission is to stay alone until you find a partner you know is healthy and with whom you are both committed to remain faithful.

The World Health Organization publishes: More than 30 different bacteria, viruses and parasites are known to be transmitted through sexual contact. Eight of these pathogens are linked to the greatest incidence of sexually transmitted disease. Of these 8 infections, 4 are currently curable: syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia and trichomoniasis.  Let’s be sure you are not confused by this sentence. There are at least 30 germs that cause Sexually Transmitted Diseases. We can cure 4 of them! The other 26 are not curable and may trouble you for life! Take a moment to think about that!

Key facts

  • More than 1 million sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are acquired every day worldwide.
  • Each year, there are an estimated 357 million new infections with 1 of 4 STIs: chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and trichomoniasis.
  • More than 500 million people are estimated to have genital infection with herpes simplex virus (HSV).
  • More than 290 million women have a human papillomavirus (HPV) infection (1).
  • The majority of STIs have no symptoms or only mild symptoms that may not be recognized as an STI.
  • STIs such as HSV type 2 and syphilis can increase the risk of HIV acquisition.
  • 988,000 pregnant women were infected with syphilis in 2016, resulting in over 200,000 stillbirths and newborn deaths.
  • In some cases, STIs can have serious reproductive health consequences beyond the immediate impact of the infection itself (e.g., infertility or mother-to-child transmission)
  • Drug resistance, especially for gonorrhoea, is a major threat to reducing the impact of STIs worldwide.  Feb 28, 2019
  • Remember too: Many diseases of the genitals can live in the mouth and throat and be transmitted by kissing or oral sex. That’s why it’s smart to settle with one partner. Germs can infect any mucus membrane in your eyes, nose, mouth, throat, or pelvis. It doesn’t matter whether you are gay, straight or what gender you claim to be. These days promiscuous people are playing with deadly fire.

Barrier methods

When used correctly and consistently, condoms offer one of the most effective methods of protection against pregnancy and Sexually Transmitted Infections, including HIV. Female condoms are effective and safe, but are not used as widely by national programs as male condoms.  MORE:  https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/sexually-transmitted-infections-(stis)

There, now you didn’t hear it from me. You heard it from the World Health Organization. The best answer to preventing pregnancy and STD infection is Condoms or having ONE lover with whom you will remain faithful.

Cure Yeast Infections

Partners can pass these back and forth during sex. (Yes, guys get yeast infections, too.) So if you notice the symptoms — itching, burning, or a thick, white discharge from the vagina or penis — treat it before the next time you get connected. Talk to your doctor if you think you might have a yeast infection.

Generally speaking, if you have taken a course of a broad-band antibiotic lately you’ve cleared out everything we can clean out. May there are some things you can never clean out! If you intend to cease being promiscuous and settle with one good lover for life, visit your doctor, get treatment and then keep your promises. In any event, if you value your good health and your life, stop being promiscuous!

Get Tested

If you’re sexually active, especially if you’ve been with a new partner, it’s a good idea to get tested for STDs. Most of the time, these infections have no symptoms, so testing is the only way to know for sure. Some people have several Sexually Transmissible bacteria and viruses at once and no symptoms. The only way to know is to be tested. Ask your medical physician for help.

You can also watch for symptoms, like discharge, pain, blisters, sores, spots, or lumps around your genitals, or a skin rash or other odd illness that comes and then clears away 10-days to 2-weeks after connecting with a new lover. If the  experience you had is some sort of rash or illness that came and went, especially without pain, it may be a pathognomonic sign of syphilis. Go immediately, get tested and treated. Don’t “think about it.” GO DO IT! Syphilis is called “The Great Mimic” because it can look like a rash or any other odd disease and trick you into thinking it’s nothing.

At very least, man should wear a condom anytime they have sex with a stranger. Women can buy condom made for women to wear inside the vagina. They are proven quite effective. Some women say they actually are a source for greater pleasure because the ring at the end near the cervix moves and the massaging action there pleases her more. Both of you cannot wear a condom at the same time. Either she wears it or he does. If you bring two together they will rub and tear one or both.

Pregnant? Take Extra Care

Women are more likely to get Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)  during pregnancy. It’s even more important to take care of the basics after sex:  pee afterward, wash around your vagina, and drink water. Encourage your partner to do the same. Maybe the two of you can shower together and during that shower, promise again to keep the relationship faithful.

>>> I must repeat something here: There are at least 30 germs that cause Sexually Transmitted Diseases. We can cure 4 of them! The other 26 are not curable and may trouble you for life! Take a moment to think about that! The best answer is to avoid sex or buy sex lube and condoms and always use them.

Before I end off I want to say there are many, more articles available about pregnancy protection and many products we could offer, but my inclination is to present the very most effective products. The modern condoms are thinner, allow for greater sensitivity and pleasure, and when I buy them in quantity at wholesale prices I can sell them for lower prices.

Condoms cost roughly $1 each over the counter. We shop carefully to sell them in larger quantities for lower prices.
